I'm not sure what I was expecting when I returned to Colorado, but I guess I knew that life wouldn't just go back to normal. Someone is out there watching me. Someone that wants to kill Asher. Someone that already killed his mother.
He hasn't said much about her, but I know her death is eating him alive. They never had the best relationship, but she was still his mother. I can relate. I don't have any desire to see or talk to my mother, but I would never wish something like this on her. Even if she betrayed me like Asher's mom did to him.
He can't even mourn her properly since he's constantly having to look over his shoulder. Not that his family would allow him to mourn her anyway. He's been banned from her funeral since they blame him for her death.
