Chapter 37 Asher I'm pacing back and forth, pulling at my hair in frustration. I'm trying to figure out just how Ashley could do something so reckless and stupid when she knows what the risks are. She's sitting on the edge of the bed with her head down. I'm trying to go easy on her since I know what she witnessed today was traumatic, but I can't ignore the burning anger inside of me. I could've lost her today and the thought alone terrifies me. "I just wanted answers! I'm tired of living this way, Asher! I'm not sure how much longer I can do it!" she cries. I sit down on the bed next to her, resting my elbows on my knees. "You don't think I know that?! I'm tired of living this way too. I'm trying to-" "I know you're trying!" she interrupts.
