"This is it. This is where I have to say goodbye to you," Cody says, pressing a soft kiss to my forehead.
"Don't go," I whisper.
He smiles, brushing my hair behind my ear. "I'm not going anywhere, Sugar Baby... but you have to. There are people who need you. Logan and Katie, their baby. Man, I still can't believe that."
He keeps his hand on my face and just looks at me as if I'm the most beautiful thing he's ever seen. "Asher needs you, too. He's waiting for you now. Go to him."
His eyes never leave mine as he slowly starts to fade away. My heart breaks all over again, like it did the day I lost him.
But he's right. People here need me and it's time for me to let Cody go.
