I've been staying with Jake the past couple of days to help him get back on his feet. Literally. The gunshot to his leg will take several weeks to heal, so he's not able to get around so easily. He keeps telling me he doesn't need my help, but we both know that's not true. Besides, I like keeping myself busy so my mind doesn't have a chance to remind me of what I've lost.
I don't like admitting it, but it's true. She's gone. She chose Cal. I try not to think about it, at least not every waking second of the day.
