I woke up to the sound of roaring again.
It was loud and deep—like something wild was trapped and angry. The same sound I had heard the night before, but this time it felt even worse. My heart jumped as I sat up quickly in bed. The room was dark, but the sound filled every corner, bouncing off the walls, wrapping around me like thick smoke I couldn’t escape.
