Namiko
I ran fast with no specific direction in mind. My feet tore and my legs grew weak but I didn't stop.
I couldn't stop. Because they were coming.
Footsteps were sounding behind me and I knew it'd only be a matter of time before they caught up.
Just as I attempted to increase my pace, a figure appeared in front of me.
“You're not leaving”
Ethan.
“Ethan, please. Let me go” I attempted to plead with him but we were soon rounded.
“Ethan please, please” I begged but he didn't even act as if he knew me.
I looked at his eyes and there was no trace of warmth. At that moment, I wondered if he ever loved me.
“Take her away” He grabbed me, pushing me to the guards.
They caught me and I watched as Ethan left.
I felt a tingling sensation on my neck, something had been injected.
I watched Ethan leave as I lost my last sense of consciousness.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
A sharp pain throbbed in my skull as I blinked back into consciousness. My body was heavy and my limbs were weak and unresponsive.
Panic grew in my chest as I forced myself upright. My wrists ached from the iron shackles that bound them. My breathing turned shallow when I realized where I was.
The dungeon.
A place where I've heard a lot about but never entered.
I swallowed hard, my throat patched and my throat dries like sandpaper. The silence was suffocating and the memories came flashing back.
Ethan. His betrayal. The guards and the needle. How everything in my life just took a three-sixty turn for the worse.
An iron door creaked open, footsteps echoed through the chamber. My body tensed as I saw him step forward.
The Alpha.
His icy gaze locked onto mine, unreadable yet filled with something dark and possessive.
“You should have known better than to run, Namiko,” he murmured, voice laced with amusement.
I trembled, not from cold but from terror.
“Keep her here,” he said to one of the guards present and turned to leave.
“Let me out. Please. Let me out of here now” I shouted after him, hoping he'd feel a little bit of pity for me. But he didn't even turn back.
I don't know how long it has been since I was locked down here.
Nobody came. Neither The Alpha nor Ethan.
And mom. I wonder how my mum was? I wonder how she'd feel if she found out her husband was violating her daughter.
The guards brought food at intervals but took the plate back as they brought it because I refused to eat anything they brought.
I had lost hope of escaping and I feared the next time the Alpha would come. Deep down I knew what he'd do to me next time he was here.
I was lying on the floor, my hand bound by the shackles when I heard the rustling of the rusted iron door.
I shot to my feet with no expectations of who to see.
The figure came closer. Mother.
“Mom, mom help please,” I shouted frantically, but contrary to what I expected my mother was decked up.
She didn't look like someone who had her child taken from her.
“Why did you run, Nami?” she finally spoke.
“You knew too? You know? What is wrong with you people?” my already bound hands dropped to my side.
“Mum, why?” I asked again with watered eyes.
“It is our responsibility to do what's best for the pack, namiko. Without an heir, the Alpha king won't bestow more honor and responsibilities upon our Alpha. I have since abandoned the hope of giving the alpha an heir. I have tried but I feel the moon goodness is not going to use me to strengthen our Alpha’s lineage. I am not like you.” she said passionately as if she was convinced this was the right thing to do.
“Why me, mom? Why me? It is because I'm young? You could have chosen any young girl in the pack if that's all it took to fuel your sick fantasy. Why me? I'm your daughter”
“Because you are the only one who can produce an heir. You are the one only who is not cursed by the moon goddess. Just say you'll do it Nami and you'll be out of here in no time. Let’s keep this within the family”
I couldn't believe my own mother was suggesting I agree to be defiled by no other person than her husband.
“What are you saying? I am your family, mother! You gave birth to me! You are the only one I have now. Don't do this to me, mummy” I broke down in tears, knowing that my mother did not feel the weight of my burden nor was she willing to carry them with me.
“I have to sacrifice you to the greatness of this pack. If you do as I tell you, we can still be a happy family. No one needs to know. Just provide an heir to the pack and that's all. Just once. Do this for your mother”
“You are sick! How could you tell me to be a baby-making machine! I am a virgin!”
“I was a virgin! Oh my God!” The realization washed over me again.
“What do you mean I'm the only one who can reproduce? I'm the only one who is not cursed?”
“You are not a pure breed, Nami. The curse doesn't apply to you” A guard came in and bowed his head in respect to my mother.
“Time's up”
“What do you mean by that? What does that even mean?” I asked after her, but I guess she was done talking.
Sparing me just a glance, my mother exited without a second thought. I dropped to the floor with a loud thump. It was difficult to believe even my own mother was in on this disgusting plan. And the words that came out of her mouth.
My body crawled with disgust.
I had no way of telling time but I knew I remained in that position for hours.
The iron door creaked again but this time, it was just a guard bringing food as per usual.
I remained rooted in my position as he opened the gate. He freed my hand to eat the food as they always did, but he didn't leave immediately.
Too caught up in my grief, I remained unmoving when I felt a hand swing by my face.
I looked up to see the familiar face of Uriel- a guard I had helped heal his son a few weeks ago with my healing skills.
“Princess, I am sorry” he bowed his head in shame! “I couldn't do anything because I was not posted to the dungeon. I saw you but I couldn't do anything about it. If anyone saw me, they would kill me”
“It's alright, Uriel” My voice is but a whisper. “I know, go back to your family”
“Kick me as hard as you can, princess. The door is opened” he whispered so low I barely caught his words. But when I did, I understood what he meant. He is helping me escape.
My eyes darted to the gate and it was really opened. Although I know it might put him in trouble, they won't kill him.
They won't kill him if they think I attacked him.
Mouthing sorry, I kicked him in the groin with the little strength I had left before standing up to run. I guess not eating for that long would have that effect on my body. But I need to act fast.
I ran out the dungeon gate, the door, and then through the halls. Only one thing was on my mind. I must escape successfully this time around.
I ran past the main house and I could swear a guard saw me as I heard a loud shout “She is escaping! Follow her!” right after.
Facing the woods, I ran as fast as I could but a weak girl could only go so far.
Soon enough the guards caught up and two of them grabbed my hand.
“What should we do?” One of them asked, turning to the one that seemed to be the leader.
“She's quite a beauty. Even in this poor state, she looks so alluring” he replied looking at me with a smile I could swear wasn't a smile.
“Are you thinking what I'm thinking?” Another asked and they all laughed.
I deduced what they meant and dread filled my chest. I couldn't allow them. I couldn't allow them to take the dignity I had left in me.
“No. You wouldn't.” I nodded desperately.
“Oh. We can. It would not matter anyway. The Alpha has directed you to be brought back, dead or alive.”
“Does my mom know about this?” I'm stalking for time. Even if she didn't, she has done the worse to me.
“Of course, she doesn't know, but she already sold you out because of her greed. It does not matter if you die now or not. We will just say you ran away and we never found you or we could say we met you just like this”
“I could be carrying the Alpha's child” I blurted hoping that would change their minds but what they said next left me stunned.
“The Alpha doesn't think that matters. And if you certainly return alive, I doubt he'd keep you long enough to hear what you have to say”
My heart dropped. That's not true. My mother clearly told me the Alpha needs me. That I'm one of a kind!
Pushing me to the ground, two of them pinned my arm while the boss unzipped his pants to reveal his d**k.
“No. No” I cried, shaking my head.
Giving no regard to my cry, he thrust into me and f****d me till he had his release. Thinking it was all over, I could only look in horror as the others took turns.
Five men had their way with me all at once. I felt so naked, unclean, and impure. My dignity vanished.
When they were done, nobody even bothered to hold me down as they felt I had passed out. But I didn't.
I listened as they planned to take me back to the dungeon and have their way with me. Once their princess, I have become nothing.
Right there I knew I had to decide.
My head tilted to the side as I watched the cliff that marked the end of my pack. Tears flowed down my eyes because I knew what danger lay below but I couldn't go back there. It'll only get worse.
It was better to die.
I concluded, wiped my tears, and stood up while they were distracted.
I ran to the cliff and with all the strength left in me, I jumped.
It was better to leave this world than suffer such humiliation.
