Thanksgiving at the Morrison house was a monumental failure. First, Aaron overcooked the turkey to the point it was nearly inedible. He also put too much salt in the gravy, and the mashed potatoes were lumpy yet gluey at the same time.
The food notwithstanding, though, the kids were in a mood. Pen had woken up and had been emotional all day, while Logan had sulked in his room until Aaron had to nearly threaten him to come downstairs for dinner. Then they both complained about the food, and it took all of Aaron's self-control not to explode.
It didn't help that this time of year always reminded him—and the kids, too—of their parents. Aaron had always done Thanksgiving with Jason, and then when Jason had gotten married and started a family, they'd been added to the celebration.
