"Hey dear you didn't have to do all of these. I don't want you to get into trouble with your Dad" Perrie said as I walked in to the sitting room with the pack of juice and glass cup.
"Don't worry I won't get into trouble rather he will be happy to see me do this" I said, placing the pack of juice and glass cup on the table just infront of her.
"Well ok if you say so but I'm going to drink it." She said
"But why? I brought it for you" I said peering intently at her a bit disappointed
" Well that is because I told you I was ok just the way I am and don't need a drink" She said.
"But too late already. You have to drink it since I have brought it here" I said stealthily
" That won't be possible today maybe some other time please Amanda" She replied
" Maybe I should make you a cup of coffee since you don't want juice" I said giving her a quizzical look
" Amanda dear that is nice of you but you don't have to bother. I'm fine this way. I won't even be staying long once your Dad comes back and we talk I'll be on my way " She said after a sigh
"Ok ma then you have to do me a favor, hope you don't mind?" I said with prying eyes
"And what favor could that be if I may ask?" She asked looking at my direction
" I want you to watch some movies with me. Will that be ok by you ma? " I asked
" Sure that's no big deal. Besides I love movies" She said in the affirmative
" Really? what type of movies do you love to watch?" I asked staring at her keenly
" Just anything action dear" She said
"Really?" I asked quite disappointed at her reply
"Yeah. I also watch comics too" She added
"Well I guess we are worlds apart then" I said coldly
" Why? what do you mean?" She asked looking at me
"I don't love action movies" I said
"Oh but why?" She asked
" I don't have a specific reason but I just don't like it maybe it's because of the unnecessary use of film tricks" I said absentmindedly
"Oh I see but then how about comics, you don't seem to like them too" She said
" Well comics are good. I watch a few sometimes but not so often. My main genre is horror, you know the zombies and the alien stuff" I said
" Oh I see but aren't you scared of watching horrible stuff as that?" she asked
" Of course not, what is there to be afraid about? " I asked with a shrug.
" Alot my dear but it seems you are so used to them already so there is no need telling you all of that again" She said softly
"You seem to be very right but on the other hand you aren't totally right" I said
"Wow why did you say so. Could you please explain? " She asked looking at me
" Ok. I want you to understand that I get scared alot literally more than an average person in a day" I said
"Oh and I thought you were some sort of supreme mortal but it seems you aren't" She teased
" Well I'm not a supreme being I'm just an 8 year old girl with a Dad and a home" I said while she smiled
" And if you ask me, I'll say to you that a girl as smart as you are is not an '8 year old' Amanda' She said calmly
"Oh wow. I don't think so though" I said
"Really? but why? " she asked
" Nothing I was just playing around" I said and chuckled
"Oh I see. Well I think I'll be going back home if you Dad doesn't wish to see me" She said calmly
"But he isn't back yet hold on for a while he will soon be back" I said looking at her direction
" Ok dear I'll wait for awhile" I said
"Thank you. Are we still going to watch the movie again? " I asked peering at her
" Sure why not. You go ahead already" She said
"Alright ma" I replied as the corners of my mouth curved into a mild smile.
Standing up, I walked over to get the TV remote then turned on the TV before scanning through the channel list.
"We are still going with the action movie right?" I asked with my eyes glued to the TV screen as my hands kept flicking the remote buttons
"Well it doesn't have to be an action movie. Anything is fine by me" She replied.
" Ok ma. Now check this out" I said, settling down for a documentary on amazing facts
"Ok dear." She replied while I walked back to my seat.
____
"Wow that was real good but I have to be on my way now. See you some other time" Perrie said calmly standing up from the sofa on which she was sitting on for the past nearly 2 hours at the end of the documentary.
"Ok ma. Let me see you off then" I said, standing up from the sofa as well
" No dear just stay back and enjoy your movie. You don't have to worry I'll go by myself" She said but I didn't reply as I walked to the door.
"Alright thank you. You can go back now" She said as we got outside
"Ok ma bye" I said
"Bye dear. See you some other time" She said while I nodded and walked away
I got to the room and sank into the sofa then placed my hand on my head. I was exhausted no doubt.
I wonder why Dad isn't still at home.
This is so unusual of him. He doesn't stay out this long.
I guess he must be so very busy wherever he is.
"Well I hope he is fine."
I soliloquized, as my eyes fell on the juice still on the table.
I so need this juice now to cool down my head. Many thanks to Perrie for refusing to take it when I offered it to her.
I stood up and grabbed the juice, emptied some of it content in the glass cup before heading back to my seat to sip it slowly.
"So lovely! this juice tastes really great today something quite different from it the usual" I said as I savored the sweetness of the juice.
Just as I was about taking a sip of the juice again, I heard the door click then flew open so I turned only to see Dad plodding slowly into the sitting room.
"Welcome back Dad" I said looking at him
"Thank you my princess" Dad replied giving me a weary smile.
" Hope you are doing great" Dad said as he inched closer
" Yes sir. Good evening Dad" I replied, standing up to go give him a hug.
"Evening my darling daughter. I missed you dear" Dad said, hugging me tightly
" I missed you more Dad" I replied breaking off from the hug
" How was school today?" He asked further and sat down on the sofa on which Perrie sat on earlier
"School was just great! And how about you, how was work?" I inquired casting him a cursory look
" Work was so so hectic but awesome at the end" Dad cooed with a smirk stressing the 'so'
"Well sorry about that" I said calmly
"It's ok dear. I'm home now so it's in the past" Dad said solemnly
" Yeah that's true" I said in the affirmative
"Now let's talk about you. Did the Uber came early enough to pick you up from school?" Dad asked
" Yes sir he came barely after school closure" I said nodding my head as well
" Wow that was timely of the driver" Dad said
"Yeah he was timely for sure" I cooed
"Where is Mena?" he asked tilting his head as he gaze shifted across the room in search of Mena
"Oh Aunt Mena is inside her room table a nap" I said
" Ok then" Dad replied and fell silent
" Dad!" I called, fondly clasping my hands
" Yes dear" he replied
"Do you want me to get you some water?" I asked casting him a cursory glance
"Not now dear. I'm fine thank you" He answered
"Ok Dad. How about your car? were you able to repair today?" I asked
"Well no I wasn't able to but I had it towed to the workshop" Dad replied after heaving a sigh.
" Oh I see but why bother yourself because of that car?"I said
" Pardon?" Dad said looking at me
" I mean you have at least some other cars so why are you stressing yourself because of that one car?" I said
"Oh really what should I have done to the car?" Dad asked peering at me
"Maybe lease it out to someone you trust" I said casually
"Oh no Amanda you are just so funny" Dad said and chuckled
"Wow. How Dad?" I asked in surprise
"Now look at what you just said, how am I supposed to lease out a broken car to someone?" Dad asked giving me a quizzical look
" And why not? You simply get someone you trust then lease out. I don't really know but isn't it how it's been done?"I said while Dad bursted into laughter
"You are so ridiculous Amanda. You think leasing out a car is that easy huh" Dad said amidst laughter
" Well I guess it is" I said casually
"And unfortunately it isn't but then I don't plan on leasing out any of properties not even my car. I just want to repair it and then possibly sell it out although I haven't decided on what to really do" Dad said calmly
"Ok Dad." I said
"Or do you want me to lease it out?" Dad asked peering at me
"No Dad. I was just suggesting I'm not saying you should lease it out" I said calmly
" I know I just wanted to hear you out dear" Dad said with a smirk
"Well you can still lease it out afterall you have fleets of cars so that won't be a problem to you" I said teasingly
"Did I hear you say fleet of cars? Where are they please?" Dad asked staring at me
" Those stuffs parked outside in the garage aren't they cars?" I asked peering at Dad
"Oh wow I don't think I have any idea concerning what you are talking about" Dad said
" Then I suppose they are toys then isn't?" I asked sarcastically
"Yeah they are just toys" Dad replied with a grin
"Sure. Can I go play with them. I'm very bored you know" I said standing up
" Why not. You can do whatever you want to do with them"Dad said with a smirk
"I also want to rip off their side mirrors hope you don't mind Dad?" I asked
" No I don't. Look they are all yours and you can do whatever it pleases you to do to with it but on one condition" Dad cooed giving me a cursory look
" What condition? " I asked sitting down
"You will have to get me your attorney" he said
" An attorney?" I asked in shock
"Yes dear. You will be needing an attorney" Dad said with a smile
"But if I may ask what has an attorney gotten to do with ripping off of their side mirrors?" I asked
"You will be needing it for the lawsuit I'll be filing against you" Dad said
" A lawsuit? What have I done to deserve a lawsuit Dad? " I asked.
" Ripping off the side mirrors of someone's car is an automobile damage and is considered as an offense and so requires a lawsuit" Dad said solemnly
"Oh really? I never knew" I said in surprise
"Ignorance is not an excuse however now you know" Dad said
"But you told me I could do whatever I wanted to do to them Dad" I said throwing up my hands into the air
"Even if I had told you so, you still shouldn't believe me" Dad said calmly
"Ok sir" I replied
"Please get me some water now" Dad said pleadingly
" Ok sir." I replied then stood up to head for the kitchen
"And just in case you don't see me in the sitting room, I'll be in my room so bring it up there" Dad said and stood up as well while I nodded and walked to the kitchen
I got the water from the kitchen and headed straight upstairs when I came back to the sitting room and couldn't find him but not until I took a sip from my juice.
As I got to his room, I sounded a knock on his door and waited for a response
"Come in Amanda" Dad bellowed from inside then I jerked the door open then got in.
Now Dad has changed his clothes and was now putting on a pair of short and a singlet, exposing his arms as he sat down on his king sized bed
"Thank you dear. Please keep it up there" Dad said pointing towards the dressing table
"Ok sir" I replied and gently placed it on the table then made to walk away
"Amanda" Dad called and I jolted to halt
"Sir" I replied turning to face him
"Oops I have forgotten what I wanted to say to you" Dad said scratching his hair
" Ok sir no problem" I replied
" But nevertheless I hope you have eaten?" He asked peering at me
"Yes sir. " I replied
"Ok dear" He muttered looking away
"How about you. Aren't you going to have your lunch? " I asked with a tone full of concern
"Of course I will dear but not now. I'm still full" Dad replied
"Oh I guess you ate out that's why" I said
" No not really. I'm just not hungry" Dad said
"Ok sir" I replied then headed for the door
" One more thing please Amanda" Dad said and I turned to face him reluctantly
"And what is that Dad? " I asked
"Please let me know whenever Mena wakes up. I have something for her" he said calmly
"Ok sir. You also have something for me to huh" I said with prying eyes
"Of course I do my princess" Dad said
"Wow and what could that be?" I asked happily
"Well I'm sorry I can't tell you now" Dad muttered
"Really but why not?" I asked
"Yes and it's because it's a present. You can't disclose the content of a present because if you do you'll ruin the surprise. Trust me you will love it when you see it finally" Dad said soothingly
"Ok sir" I said and walked away.
