HOW BAD?
"Hey Mr. Edwards good to see you again man after a long time!" Doctor Henry said as we walked in to his office.
" Yeah. How have you been buddy?" Dad asked as we both stood in front of his giant desk
"I've been good. You know just here doing the usual" He replied chuckling
"My bad! Please have a seat" He added, pointing towards the swivel chair reserved for guests
"Oh yeah thank you" Dad said as we both sat down.
"You are welcome man. So what brings you to my office this time?" He asked in a serious register
" Well my daughter here actually had a little accident. She mistakenly bumped into a wall yesterday and it resulted in to her having a swollen face." Dad softly.
"Oh sorry dear" He said looking towards my direction
"Thank you sir" I replied with a sly smile on my face
"You are welcome. Man go ahead I'm listening" He said
" So I brought her here for you to examine her carefully to ascertain the level of damage the crash may have caused to her head and probably write us some prescription as well" Dad said
" Oh. That's fine. I don't think the crash was a heavy one" Doctor Henry said looking intently at my face
"Please come over here little friend" he said then I stood up and over to his side
"Just as I have said earlier, the damage isn't much It's just sustained a few abrasions and they will all go" Doctor Henry said
"Just abrasions? I hope there is no need to worry?" Dad asked
" Yes just abrasions and they will all be gone if she takes this drugs I'll be writing for you guys" He said
"Alright you can go back to your seat. Thank you" He added as he began to scribble down some words on a piece of paper he took out from his office cabinet while Dad continued to look on as he wrote
"Here, Mr Edwards. You can get them from our drugstore outside there or better still from any drugstore of your choice" He said stretching out the piece of paper across his table to Dad after he was done writing.
"Ok man I'll get them as soon as possible. I know I can always count on you. Thank you" Dad said as he collected the piece of paper.
" It's nothing Bro. I'm always here for you anytime anyday" Doctor Henry said
"I'm so grateful man. We will like to be on our way now" Dad said, standing up from his seat while I slowly stood up as well
"Ok man. Let me walk you guys off a little bit" He said also standing up from his seat
"So how is business going lately?" Doctor Henry asked as we got into the hallway leading out of his office.
"Well fine. It's just there… hectic as ever" Dad replied with a shrug and then they continued to talk about other things while I took my time to scan through the hospital building with my eyes, paying deaf ears to their discussion.
Nothing has really changed about the hospital, from the same weird smells of alcohol based antiseptics flying about in the air and hitting my nostrils and making want to poke to the elderly aged receptionist of theirs and high walls and chilling temperatures.
Virtually everything here is still the same as it was about a month ago when I first came here.
"Alright buddy. I'll just stop here" Doctor Henry said as we got outside of the hospital
"Alright man. Thank you, I appreciate your kind gesture towards my daughter and I today" Dad said stealthily
"Here we go again… Bro we are family. Stop acting like you are a different person entirely to me" Doctor Henry said with a smirk
"Alright fine. I agree" Dad said
"Do have a nice day and bye my little friend. I hope to see you again but definitely not in this form" He said then began to walk away after I nodded my head to signify my understanding
"Good. Let's go home now" Dad said as he led me towards the car with his hands wrapped around mine.
We got into the car and then after sometime, Dad turned on the car ignition but not until soft country music began to blast from the car speakers and then we drove out of the hospital and hitting the major road headed for home
"That doctor seems so nice" I hinted from the backseat, adjusting my seatbelt in an awkward manner
"Yeah he is. Henry is certainly one of the kindest and rarest type of guy I've ever known" Dad said turning down the volume of the music a bit
"Really?" I asked in surprise
"Yeah. I've known him for ages and I'm so lucky to have him as a friend" Dad said.
"That's great. He must be lucky to have you as a friend as well" I replied softly
"Yeah, probably" he said
"Now about your medication, should we go get it before driving home or just go home straight?" Dad asked switching lanes
"Well I'm speechless. I don't know which to choose but then it's important we go get the medication too at least today" I said with a shrug
"Yeah. So that you can heal fast because you can't afford to miss school now" Dad said
"Yeah ok Dad's true and tomorrow is school" I said and sigh
"Well we will just have to go get it right away" Dad said pulling off by the side of the road as he brought the car to an abrupt stop after stepping on the brake pedals.
"Guess you got afraid" Dad said looking at me through the rear mirror
"Yeah a little bit" I replied sighing
"Sorry. I had to stop so we can go back to get the drugs" he said
"Ok" I said
"Let me reverse so we can drive back to the hospital"
"Ok Dad" I replied and with that Dad reversed and hit off the road this time for the hospital
