Chapter 44: The first attack

Almost a quarter an hour into the drive, the car was graced by silence. No surprise there, the little stunt I pulled back there surely pissed him off and he was yet to say something to me since we left an active Lynn, the wolf spirits deserved all the credit for the fact that he didn't have his claws on my throat the same way a typical Alpha would have reacted . On the bright side, he got to use his powers on her...okay it was a team effort. Let me give you a flashback.

*The moment Lynn screamed *

When Lynn screamed Kai glared at me with his iris glowing like red like pepper before he left his seat in a hurry. Since I was all aware of what was happening I chose to finish the bread sandwich before joining him and our little princess was shaken, never before had she received blood from her shower instead of water. Kai was holding her in a tight embrace with a towel in his hands drying her hair. We helped her out of the bathroom and took her to the room sat her fragile shaking perfect figure on the bed-she was beautiful now I could see why he couldn't get over her. Anyway, her teeth were rattling and she was shaking like a blade of grass on windy day. Clumped together, her head between her feet and it got me feeling guilty just to see how miserable she was.

"Sit here let Ava and I clean this up" Kai said to her and she just raised her gaze her hair soaked and dripping in blood, it made her look like that scared little blonde girl in horror movies running in the rain and one of the guys in wrong turn following her... perhaps the guy with a weird face, red shirt red and blue dungarees? Rings a bell okay Freddy in jeepers creepers?

He dragged me to the living room, pacing up and down like a caged lion. I was just waiting for him to lash out at me perhaps choke me to death. That was fair enough because the consequences of what I did were starting to sink in. Perhaps while doing that a teeny tiny detail did not register in my mind, she was human.

"What the f**k Ava, you have crushed her!" He whispered.

"Am sorry, there’s a way you can help her"

"No, no, no. Am not clawing the nape of her neck" He said waving his index finger in the air like a car wiper.

"Don't worry, she won't even notice it"

"How?"

"You’re forgetting am a witch. I can cast a sleeping spell and you will do whatever it's is you do with the claws and compel her"

He just looked through me and that moment I realized how handsome he was. That was me trying to shift my mind from guilt and the fact that he would have clawed my head off instead. His silence made me wonder if the solution to the problem I caused was so stupid and yet I didn't have another way out.

"Okay but first am going to have to clean her up, just go undo whatever it is you did"

"See, we are a team"

"I can't believe you stooped that low to get me to use my powers on her and prove this weird belief that we're a team. Go!" He pushed me gently, and I saw an opportunity to see if he cared for me much so I stumbled and fell. He caught me before my expensive brown jacket and favorite pair of blue jeans hit the floor, "You are a handful" he said returning me to a vertical position.

A single spell undid the damage and cleaned the bathroom. It was not blood as the human thought but she already believed it so there was no need of trying to tell her it was not what she thought it was. This would have made our situation worse.

"The bathroom is ready" I said after five minutes of stalking her bathroom pretending to be cleaning it.

"Come one let's get you cleaned up, it might be paint" Kai said carrying her, that got my intestines flooding with acid.

Lynn wasn't talking. She was really stunned beyond recognition. As he got her to the shower I got rid of the sheets that had droplets of blood and replaced them with a pair of fresh sheets. Then I did an extraction spell, you know, sucked all the blood from the sheets and folded them using my mind, what a better time to be a witch and a powerful one in that matter. By the time Kai brought her back her room was clean. He winked at me to signal a go ahead and gladly a snap of my finger is all it took and she collapsed in his arms.

"You can do that?" Kai asked surprised.

"Why do you think your parents want us married?"

Kai couldn't answer that. He sat her up in the bed, folded his sleeve and looked at me exhaling sharply.

"Don't worry it will work, it has to"

"You might have to leave the room for when she wakes up, here goes nothing" He said and buried his claws in the nape of her neck, shut his eyes in concentration.

Stubborn me was just looking on, wondering what he was deleting and what he was planting in there. His powers were cooler than mine to some extent, witches could erase memories but not plant them, unless mum had not taught me that one yet. When Kai looked like he was opening his eyes I quickly left the room.

Five minutes later the two lovebirds emerged. They found me seated in the dining enjoying the juice and well prepared vegan bread sandwiches.

"There you are" I said happily.

"Am sorry it took me so long that Kai had to fetch me" Lynn said rubbing the nape of her neck.

Poor girl, she had no idea that was Kai's programming. He seemed okay with it which meant he was not going to have a problem when the right time to do that again came.

"It's okay, what is it with your neck?"

"She fell in the bathroom, right baby?"

Baby? Ooh I got it. He was punishing me for that, again, fair. It was a well-deserved insult.

"Yeah, don't worry I'll be fine"

"We should get going, see you tomorrow Lynn. Call me alright?" Kai said grabbing his coat from the hanger at the entrance.

"I will, you guys drive safely. And thank you for stopping by" She said walking us to the hallway.

"He is driving, after that bump in the bathroom you need rest Lynn. We're good from here"

"Bye, I'll miss you both!" she said waving us off. She still had in that warm smile of hers and yeah, bad things happen to good people. It was hard to break up with such a person, with a personality of angels, I was yet to find her weaknesses, the b***h was like this perfect girl everyone wants to be like with beauty and a handsome guy like Kai. While I couldn't take away all the other accolades, Kai was mine.

*In Kai's boring Royce*

"So what did you tell her?" I just had to ask that question to try and spark a conversation. Silence was killing me.

"That she fell in the bathroom and blacked out?"

"Wow! Great!"

"There is nothing great about that!" He screamed and pulled over in the middle of the road. There he was, the true alpha, cars hooted going past us and he didn't even care, he was breathing heavily crushing the staring wheel with his arms and a grey pelt was sprouting all over his face, "what you did was stupid and reckless for both of us. I understand we are supposed to be married for both our kind but that doesn't mean you have the right to do such things. Next time there will be consequences!" He hissed through his carnassial teeth and a pair of glowing irises.

"Am sorry. It won't happen again"

"I don't believe you" He said slowly morphing back to the handsome human.

"You don't have to" I said and grabbed him by the nape of the neck, planted a kiss on his lips, he tried to fight it but he finally opened his mouth and let me in, the blaring horns couldn't break that kiss in the middle of the road with street lights showering us with light, "Now you are becoming what I want you to be. The best version of yourself, when Luca knocks I'll need that version of Kai not the soft one. Get us home"

He froze there, his eyes were calm, a good sign he was no longer angry. The kiss did the trick to his inner beast who by the way it wasn't a secret he liked me. Without saying a word he reshaped the steering wheel and drove us out of there very fast. The route he took did not lead us to his parents, it was automatic, finally I was going to spend the night at his own home. Our home. God it felt good to have the Alpha of Alphas under my control just a little bit.

"This house looks beautiful than it does online"

"You have been stalking me?"

"I wouldn't put it that way not to mention, am sure half of this city knows how Kai Watson’s house looks like"

"How long?"

"Since you met Lynn. Take me inside, that's not important at the moment alright"

Obediently, he tugged my hand and led us through the double glass doors. A woman in her fifties received us. The housekeeper I gaze. She just bowed and went back to the kitchen.

"This is how being rich feels like"

"Come on it's not like you are from a poor background" he said holding my finger tips to help me get on the first floor, I lagged behind admiring the beautiful art on the wall.

"No, but am not as rich as you. There's a big difference. Which reminds me, you are coming home for dinner tomorrow. Mum and the coven wants to meet my prince charming"

"Not possible"

"Because of your movie night with Lynn? Come on you already had fun with her the entire day and am asking for a single one hour dinner you want to say no?"

"It's just that..."

"If it's important you'll find a way to tell her you won't make it. If it's not you'll give me that excuse you were about to give me and it won't be fair, especially after you promised me the moment she lands you are ending this undefined relation"

Ouch! Touched a nerve there didn't I? That was the truth of the matter. Two people who had s*x and went on dates but were not aware what really made them happy together and how they could bring out the best out of each other.

"Okay" He said opening the door to his balcony and behold. The sprawling ski city and two roof top swimming pools attached to the house. Luxury, style composure, everything about Kai was just mind-blowing. On top of that list is s*x.

"Ooh my God. You get to see this every day?"

"I see, so you want me to tell mum you be around? It was not a request by the way, she ordered me to get you to dinner"

"Tell her I'll be there, happy now?"

"Very" I said and took out my phone from my purse.

The stars were finally aligning. My dreams were on the verge of coming true and trust me they were going to surprise everyone.
