“You’re fired, Abby.”
Landon’s words echoed in my head.
“What did you just say?” I asked, blinking in disbelief.
When he called me to his office, I didn’t know he wanted to tell me that I couldn’t keep my job anymore. I thought he just wanted to give me feedback on the board meeting he just had.
“You heard me correctly, Abby. You are fired. Pack your things and leave the office.”
“Landon. What is wrong with you?” I asked, still trying to process what he just said to me. “Why are you firing me?”
I couldn’t afford to lose my job. I didn’t have any other option to fall back to. I’d been working at the advertising company ever since I finished college.
