After having briefed Martin on his task, Elvis quietly returned to Mandy’s home.   The next day, as soon as Elvis woke up, he found that the news on the Internet was all about Greens Jewelers.   “Greens Jewelers is about to pick up again after a period of decline. It’s expected to return to its peak soon!”   “Lord Mayor visited Greens Jewelers yesterday and spoke highly of it! He said the jewelry on sale there was a real value for the money!”   “It is whispered that a number of rich merchants have jointly invested a huge amount of money in Greens Jewelers.”   “Is it true? The other day, I heard that Greens Jewelers was going to close down.”   “Greens Jewelers used to be the leader in the jewelry industry of the city, but, unfortunately, it has been falling into a decline in recent years. Can it return to its peak again?”   “Now that Lord Mayor spoke highly of Greens Jewelers, the jewelry on sale there must be the real thing.”   “Can I order online now? I want to buy myself a necklace.”   “I also want to buy some jewelry for myself.”   …   Mandy was greatly excited at the sight of that news and comments on the Internet. She jumped out of bed and darted to Elvis’s room without her slippers.   “Greens Jewelers has gone viral online, Elvis!” Mandy exclaimed in delight, springing at Elvis.   “Congratulations, my sweet. It’s the fruit of your effort,” said Elvis softly, pressing Mandy in the arms.   “I believe every bit of that is thanks to you,” Mandy said with rosy cheeks, nestling against his chest.   At the same time, however, Gordon was boiling with rage when he saw that news and comments on the Internet.   “What the hell makes Mandy so lucky to get so many rich merchants to invest in Greens Jewelers? No, I will never let her get her to wish!” Gordon said through clenched teeth, insanely jealous.   The next moment, he stood up and hurried Maria’s home.   When he arrived, Maria was sitting at the table having breakfast. He walked up to Maria with hurried steps, and said, “Grandma, to let those rich merchants invest in Greens Jewelers, Mandy curried favor with them by contemptible means. If you ignore it, Mandy will surely take the opportunity to use outsiders to embezzle our family fortune.”   “Is it true?” Maria asked, her voice trembling a little and her glass falling on the ground.   She took over Gordon’s phone and hurried to check it out.   After a long time, she put down the phone, frowning in deep thought.   Solely from that news and comments on the Internet, it was quite beneficial for the Greens. But influenced by Gordon’s slander on Mandy, Maria could not help doubting there was a conspiracy behind it. After all, there was no such thing as a free lunch. She didn’t think Mandy could get David’s support or the investments of those rich merchants without any additional protocols.   “Call a family conference at once!” Maria ordered, her face clouding over.   “Okay, I’ll get on it first thing,” Gordon said with a sinister smile.   When Mandy was informed to attend the family conference, she was having breakfast with Elvis. Putting down her phone, she muttered doubtfully, “Why Grandma is going to hold a family conference again? We just attended one two days ago, didn’t we?”   “I think someone must be jealous of your success, so he attempts to cause trouble. But don’t worry, Mandy. I’ll go with you.” Elvis said, gently taking Mandy’s hand. He sort of guessed that.   Mandy bent her brows upon hearing Elvis’s words, feeling somewhat worried.   After a little while, all the top executives of Green Group gathered together in Maria’s house. Most of them looked puzzled, having no idea of the reason for this family conference. Only a few of them, who were on Gordon’s side, knew what was going to happen.   As for Mandy, when she saw Maria frowning like a thunderstorm, she became more worried.   “Since we are all here, let’s begin our meeting. I called all of you here to discuss the management of Greens Jewelers.” Looking around everyone present, Maria said in a deep voice.   Upon hearing her words, all the top executives of Green Group understood. They had also seen that news and comments on the Internet, and they were envious of Mandy having gotten a huge amount of investment, although they knew little about the detail.   “Mandy, you have done a good job in making a name for Greens Jewelers. But how dare you cooperate with those rich merchants on the sly, and even sell a stake in Greens Jewelers without our permission!” Maria snapped.   “Grandma, I…” Upon hearing her words, Mandy appeared pasty-faced and nervous, at a loss for an explanation of it.   At that time, she had had no time to hesitate for the opportunity was extremely precious. Besides, this cooperation was a win-win situation for both sides, so no one would be so stupid as to refuse it.   Looking at Maria with a faint sneer, Elvis was not surprised that such a thing would happen among the Greens.   “Since Mandy cooperated with those rich merchants on the sly, and even sold a stake in Greens Jewelers, I suggest that she must be removed from the position of the proprietor.” Gordon said.   “You’re not in a position to say so. I’m the proprietor of Greens Jewelers. I have the right to cooperate with other companies,” said Mandy angrily.   It was she who had contracted with the Smiths, but she had had to let Maria take over the follow-up cooperation. As for herself, she had been forced to take over Greens Jewelers which was on the verge of bankruptcy. Now she had managed to get a huge amount of investment to make Greens Jewelers back on the rails, but they wanted to remove her from the position of proprietor! So how could she tolerate it again and again?   She looked at Maria imploringly, hoping that she would speak for her. However, Maria sat expressionless, turning a blind eye to it. The others looked on indifferently, itching to see Mandy removed from the position of the proprietor.   Their indifferent attitude stung Mandy. For the first time, Mandy felt disheartened to her family.   “Mom, you can’t remove Mandy…” said Nancy anxiously.   She wanted to speak for Mandy but interrupted by Gordon.   “If you want to continue to be the proprietor of Greens Jewelers, you must give all those investments to Green Group. After all, Greens Jewelers is attached to Green Group. Those rich merchants invest in Greens Jewelers is equivalent to invest in Green Group.” Gordon said, exposing his real purpose.   He didn’t care who the proprietor of Greens Jewelers was. He just coveted the $800 million investment. Without this investment, even if the media extolled Greens Jewelers to the skies, it would go bankrupt in the end.
