We hurried down the hallways of the hospital, meeting Lucian’s mum on the way. She had created a diversion for the doctor in charge, gifting us a solid twenty minutes with the unconscious Mrs. Carter. Chase and Alec were already in the room and the former could barely meet my eye, probably out of guilt. I let my eyes fall on the woman lying on the bed with drips attached to her body, only the steady sound of the monitor in the room beeping in the room. I needed her to be alive.
