Avery watched the stars shining above her head. She felt cold and lonely despite her physical inability to feel the cold air. Liam left first thing in the morning with the last group. Avery stood by the pack house and watched the groups assembling on the training grounds. Once everyone from the group arrived, they departed. Liam left with the last one.
She felt him in her mind for about two hours after they left, but the feelings which the emptiness brought took her by surprise. She got used to being alone. While serving in the pack, she was never part of the collective mind, since she had no wolf to connect her consciousness to the mind-link.
