Michael supported Avery, searching for his son, who disappeared under the water. He wanted to let Avery go, but she clung to him, searching for any kind of support before she would end up under the water as well. She didn’t know the man who held her, but she could see Liam in that older face. Avery assumed they had to be related. Almost as his face reminded her of Liam, she clumsily turned around to look for Liam, but he wasn’t there.
“Dad. Come out,” Kayen told his father. Michael lifted his eyes to meet Kayen’s before he looked back at the water where his son had stood just a moment ago.
“He is alright. Come out, please,” Kayen repeated, seeing his father’s hesitation. Michael stood without moving for another few seconds before letting Avery go and leaving the pond. Avery lost balance
