Kayen watched his brother sink his teeth into Avery’s neck before the water swallowed them again. His mother’s eyes turned to him, but Kayen tried to ignore her pervasive gaze. He didn’t know what was going inside the veil. The time flew, seconds turned into minutes, and Kayen felt the pressure from others.
