Confronting Catman

1112 Words
Dave who was walking behind her with his eyes frantically darting across the hallway in fright, bumped into her. He was about to say something when he caught sight of her serious expression. He swallowed back the words and asked meekly. "What is going on?" The lady didn't spare her a glance as she walked towards the balcony. Dave wanted to stay behind but was creeped out by the eerie feeling, so he tagged along. "Umm...Davina?" He called worriedly as the walk to the balcony became more creepier. The lady didn't stop to look at him but snapped impatiently with a low voice. "Can we talk after now?" The man stared at her with pursed lips before nodding. The lady stopped at the balcony and lowered her nose onto the rails, sniffing the air softly. The strong smell of cat reeked everywhere but the man was suddenly nowhere to be seen. Thinking of the possibility of the danger lurking, she turned and drew the man closer to her while her eyes searched the place. Just before she removed them, it caught sight of a figure standing at the end of the hallway. The light at that side was spoilt but the lady could make out the figure of a tall man with a creepy smile. "Dave?" She called softly and turned to look at the man who was panic stricken. He had seen only Cat man's legs and his feet wobbled. He had been so sure they were the only ones in the building. Or had one of their own also come to have a look? Thinking of that, the man's eyes lit up and he straightened up. "I'll go talk to him." He breathed out and threw Davina a reassuring smile. He made to move a foot, but was mercilessly shoved back by Davina. "You want to talk to him? Are you sure?" She asked with amusement. The man nodded stiffly. The truth remained that he was scared stiff but recalling the fact he had to be strong for them, he had to take the risk. Pointing a finger at the motionless man a few distance away, she laughed. "What if I tell you, that man over there will break you into two before you get the chance to say anything?" Dave felt his scalp go numb as he nibbled on her words. He also felt the same way. Even though the man's face was not seen by him, the stance he took on was a little frightening. "B-but I have to do something. I'd stall him for a bit and you'd run out to call for help." The man insisted. Davina chuckled. How could she open her mouth and tell him the characteristics of a werecat? They were fast, unpredictable and really annoying. On a normal day, she could leave it's presence unscathed but faced with her mate, she had to do something. With her eyes pinned on the werecat, she grabbed Dave's hands and did a quick calculation. "Can run 100miles in an hour. How long would it take to run less than a mile?" Although confused by the question, the man subconsciously blurted out the answer. "44.70400 m / s" Hearing him, Davina's expression turned grim as she thought, Damn it! No wonder he's so smug about it. She glanced at the nervous man beside her and sighed, then took her eyes to the werecat who was now taking slow, light steps towards them. Colour drained from Dave's face seeing it. "Go on, Davina. Run!" Davina stared at the man from the side of her eyes. Dave had ego and wouldn't just run if she told him to. However, she could make him go by promising to run away with him. "I'm not leaving you behind, let's run away together." The man nodded repeatedly, grabbed onto her hand and ran off. He ran out of the house, jumped a few stairs and turned around to boast but got stunned by the sight he saw— He had been holding the hand of a doll all those while. Although he was upset, he wondered where she had found a doll's hand at a time like that but there were many things he was yet to learn about her. Meanwhile, in the house, upstairs, the werecat's physical appearance soon got seen by Davina as he walked into the light. Davina towered 5'5 feet from the ground and the man who was only one inch past six feet, stared at her with a cold smile. "You should've run away with your friend. Now, it's already too late to do so." Davina looked up at the man and perceiving the foul aura around him, knew straight away he wasn't a good person. "You killed an entire family, what do you want?" "Me killing an entire family has nothing to do with you." The man retorted with a sneer. "That's where you're wrong. I'm a cop, a detective at that and this issue was assigned to me." Davina frowned as she pulled out her identity card from her breast pocket. Like he had seen something enticing, he rubbed both palms together as he said. "A cop? It's been a long time since I saw and played with one." Davina was running out of patience but outwardly, she appeared relatively calm. "I'd disregard you ever said a thing like that in the future." The woman replied through gritted teeth. "I don't need you to disregard anything!" The man yelled, resisting the urge to reach out and grab her by the neck but knew it was extremely risky. She was a werewolf and seeing her boldness, he didn't think she was that simple. If he reacted first, who knows, he might be falling right into her trap. "Since that's the case, then I have no choice than to bring you to the station." She said pulling out a handcuff. At the sight of it, the man chuckled darkly. "What I'm I? A dog?" Davina said nothing as she reached further towards his hands but got grabbed by protruding long nails. It pierced her skin and let out some red fluid. The man stared right at her. "First, you trespassed my turf and now you're trying to cuff me for a crime I didn't commit!" Davina paused, before hissing. "A crime you didn't commit?! Your smell is all over it." The man grinned. "Who cares if I did that." Davina was sure now, the man was a total psycho and werecat psycho was really hard to deal with. Without wasting time, she slipped out a small object from her pocket and flashed it across his face.
