Aurora froze where she was, halfway behind the kitchen counter. Her eyes turned to look at Dmitri, who was still standing by the window, his shoulders tense, his jaw tight.
“What do you mean someone’s watching me?” she asked carefully, her voice unsure. “This is literally one of the most safest estate in the whole of Russia.”
Dmitri turned from the window and met her eyes. For a brief second, she saw something raw in his gaze—concern. But just as quickly, he covered it with his signature smirk.
“I thought I saw something,” he said. Then he shrugged lightly, as if brushing it off. “But you’re right, princess. This estate is one of the safest in Russia. Maybe I was just being paranoid.”
Aurora narrowed her eyes. “Paranoid? Dmitri, you don’t strike me as the type who gets paranoid.”
