The small, dim room in the basement smelled of damp stone and old secrets. A single bulb hung from the ceiling, casting shadows across the walls. Leonardo stood with his arms crossed, staring at the man tied to the chair in front of him—the scarred servant. The deep scar behind his left ear was now more visible under the harsh light. He looked weak, tired, and beaten, but his eyes were still sharp. He sure as hell was one loyal dog. Leonardo didn't say anything at first. He watched. Waited. But his eyes said it all, he wanted to know who had ordered the hit, and why. Yes he had said it was his cousin, Gianluca but he didn't have the brain to come up with such a plan. He was definitely working with someone else. Finally, the scarred servant broke the silence. His voice was low and rough.
