Chapter 2| The Fallen Angel with Broken Wings

1073 Words
Angel Halo could not believe Lucifer’s audacity. He banished her from the Vampire Annihilation force (VAF) and also from the heaven. He threw her over the clouds sending her away, wrapped in spiritual chains. “The forum has already decided to throw you out of the force. Angel Halo, we banish you from the VAF. In fact, you are banished from heaven. Go to that vampire pavilion and see for yourself who they truly are!” Lucifer’s world kept replaying in her mind. “Let’s see if you will still love them then…” As she was falling through the clouds she could only wonder if that was the punishment she deserved. All she ever did was try to save those who were still good. However, it was still wrong of her to do so. It was ordered by the Great Forum to exterminate all of the vampires. “My wings?! They won’t come out!” she kept trying to bring them out but it was like she had invisible shackles wrapped around her. She would have to try harder to break free and fly. Halo was getting closer to hitting the ground. She could hurt badly if she fell. The wind was getting strong, she couldn’t breathe. She was accelerating too fast onto the earth. She had to slow down if she wanted to survive. “Come on! Come out you damn wings. Save me! Save my life!” Lucifer had bonded her powers and abilities before throwing her off. Halo was fairly new in the heaven but she knew that Lucifer was not supposed to bind her powers. This could result in her death. It was sad how, even after 5 000 years, Angel Halo still had a lot to learn. She never got to learn how to bind and unbind an Angel’s powers. And so, in that very critical time, she had to figure out how to unbind herself by herself. “Come on, Halo. You can do this!” There! She broke the chains and flared out her wings. She had managed to gain back control and halted the speed but it was only temporary. Her wings started closing in again. She lost her flapping pattern and balance. CRASH!! She plummeted onto the Mountain of Red Waters, breaking it into parts and pieces. The fall was detrimental. It broke the bones to her giant wings and grazed her here and there, opening cuts that might get infected if not treated. Her fall was so heavy and sudden that it shook the entire region giving it a little earthquake and a false alarm that got the people hiding. Halo could not move for a while. The heavy rocks had fallen on to her, she could feel them quashing her and suffocating her. The tiny pieces of rocks and sand were still pouring on her blinding her. She thought she could push one more time but the pain was getting even more excruciating. She rested for a while. “I have to meditate and gather my strength.” A silent moment while she calmed all of her senses. She needed to be in a state of relaxation if she was to overcome the physical pain and access the power within. “Come on, breath, Halo.” … … “It’s not working. I have to adopt a breathing pattern to distract me.” She would breathe in twice and then breath out twice. Again, in twice, out twice. She did that until finally, “Yes! I lifted it!” Now, that she lifted the giant rock off of herself, she tried crawling out of there… Only to find that her wing was stuck. She attempted pulling but to no avail. It was excruciating and mostly devastating to know that she couldn’t turn to lift the rock that layed on her wings. The wings were naturally attached to her back, there was no way of turning around. She then tried standing on her feet but her body had experienced too much trauma. Her knees were shaking, she couldn’t spend another second standing—Halo tumbled back on the ground. Looking around, it was becoming clear to her where she was. Indeed, Lucifer had sent to her to the vampire empire. She had tumbled over the Red Waters Mountain. If the vampires found out that the mountain had shuttered, they’d coming running to see for themselves. They’d come running to hopefully salvage what would be left of the Red Water underneath the mountain. This was the infamous Mountain of Red Waters. It was said to fuel the empire and brought about good fortune and eternity. They worshiped those waters and claimed that it was the blood of their fallen ancestors. They lived to protect those waters and used them sparingly. If the vampires where to find the Angel there, she wouldn’t live another minute. Vampires and Angels had become greatest enemies for almost 3 000 years now. They had to kill each other whenever they ran into each other. Halo had to hide well, but then she couldn’t move too much. She would be stuck on the same spot until there was help. Or until she could summon great strength out of nowhere to help herself. It wasn’t promising that she’d ever regain that strength herself. “My wings are broken. Look here, the bone has pierced through the flesh and is poking out of these white feathers. The blood is flowing and cascading onto the ground like a waterfall, it has stained the white shinning coat of my majestic feathers.” Halo lamented to herself, “What a painful sight it is. I can only weep when I see this. Lucifer has bonded my powers—I can’t use them to heal myself. Oh, I can only weep when I foresee a very near future where I lose these wings of mine. It is getting cold and late. I am getting cold and hungry.” Indeed, the sun was setting. Would she make it through the night? RUSTLE! RUSTLE! “What was that!” she whispered to herself and then quieted down. She made sure to breath quietly, she made sure to stay still and made sure not to make any sound. There was someone approaching. She was too weak, she couldn’t handle a fight with those monsters. The rustling sound was only getting nearer and louder. RUSTLE! Who was there? CLICK!!
