Chapter 70: Nutshell

We are both on the bed looking up on the ceiling trying to calm ourselves together silently. We have been in this state for an hour. As far as I remember the time that I told him not to think about what happened a while ago. I went straight to our bed and fell on it.

After I did he also went straight to the bed and did the same thing.

We have been like this for some time. I think I have to break the silence between the two of us. I do not want our bedroom to become a haunted house sooner or later.

“Hey! I have to get down. Are you coming with me?” I asked Michael as I turned my head to face him.

“Huh?!” Michael replied as soon as I asked him but it seems like he was not able to hear what I just asked.

“This punk!” I said to myself because I saw him drawing in the air.

It turned out that I was the only one who was overthinking because the boy beside me was already clear with the thought.

“Ugh!” I exclaimed and changed my position into a sitting one so I can release my anger a bit.

“I said I have to go down. Are you coming or not?” I said to him as I tried my best not to burst it all out of him. As always, I am frustrated with him. “Why is he good at this? He should become a professional frustrator in the future.” I said to myself again.

“Ah! Hmm! Let’s go.” Michael replied acting like a freaking dumb.

“Is he doing this on purpose? If I know, I will literally kill him.” I said to myself to let out my frustrations.

I released a heavy sigh while standing up from the bed and eventually walked towards the door immediately.

“Hey, why are you speeding up?” Michael asked. I know that he is toying with me now. One day he will get what he deserves. I believe in ‘what you sow you reap’ though.

“My throat is dry. I have to get some water and drink that is why.” I said and opened the door that is now next to me.

“Really? Ah! That is why.” Michael replied to me. He is really making fun of me right now.

“Shut up.” I said in a serious voice. I closed the door after I got out of the bedroom.

“Hey!” I heard Michael complain but I did not pay attention to it because he can just open the door. He is really trying hard to get an Oscar award at the moment.

Lucky for him, I am trying my best not to do something stupid again because I don’t want this to go bad because I had enough from what happened in the foundation.

I continued to walk until I reached the stairs. As soon as I finished walking on the stairs, I went straight to the kitchen because I know that the people I want to meet will be there as of the moment.

“Nick, are you hungry?” Janice said as an intro to me. I can sense that she is trying not to feel awkward with me because of what happened.

“Janice, can I talk with you for a minute?” I asked Janice. I have to talk with her and apologize for my actions. I was stupid for thinking about myself only and did not bother to know what they are feeling too.

“Oh of course.” Janice replied and walked straight to the living room.

The kitchen is full with our helper; Maria, Leonora and Theresa. I do not want to spread the thing that happened a while ago so it is better that we talk it out in private.

I might be young now but I am not an i***t. It is common sense that I have to talk this out in private because it was an embarrassing thing for me.

“Thanks.” I replied to her as I follow her from walking

“Seat first.” Janice instructed me as she sat first on the sofa. Then I did what she told me.

“So what was it you wanted to talk about?” Janice said as soon as I sat on the sofa.

She was hasty because it was almost time for dinner. I understand her because this is what I am thinking too.

Mom and dad might see us so we have to talk it out quickly.

“The thing about this afternoon. I am really sorry I acted that way. I was stupid to not think about my actions first that time. I hope you will forgive me.” I said to Janice without stopping or stuttering words.

“It is okay. When I was a kid I was like you too so I totally understand you. One thing only…” Janice said but she was not able to finish her words because I talked.

“Thank you... Oh! Sorry. Continue.” I said while gently laughing because I was so happy when I heard her answer.

“Hahaha.” Janice laughed as soon as she heard what I just said. “The thing is, I already have the thought in my mind that it will be the foundation that we will celebrate Michael’s birthday. Too bad, I think we cannot do that anymore.” Janice said to me. I can see in her eyes that she liked what was happening in that foundation and so she wanted to see the people smiling and enjoying Michael’s birthday.

“Yeah. I am sorry. Well, I was also thinking that way. Don’t worry, I will talk to Jake tomorrow.” I said to Janice.

I know what I did was embarrassing but I have to become a better person who faces its problems, I have to talk to Jake tomorrow.

“Aren’t you mad at him?” Janice asked. As I expected. They all might have thought that I was mad at Jake but actually it was of myself.

“No. I am not mad at him. I am mad and disappointed in myself because I expected a lot.” I replied to Janice.

“Really? Because that is what you said, I will consider it as the truth then.” Janice replied to me.

“Thanks Janice.” I said to Janice and stood up. “So this conversation is done. I have to go to the kitchen so I can help Maria, Leonora and Theresa.” Janice said and messed my hair.

She is messing up my hair because I think she finds me cute. Of course that is just a lame joke in my head.

“Okay.” I said and finally Janice walked out of the living room and went straight to the kitchen.

“Boo!” Michael startled me. “What the hell are you up to now?!” I asked while shouting at Michael. “Shhh! Your voice is too loud.” Michael said and jumped on the sofa from my back.

I did not see him coming into the living room. Maybe he has been here before me and Janice. “So he heard our plan? Oh no!” I said in my mind as I tried to process my thoughts.

“How long have you been in here?” I asked Michael straightly. “Why? You are shy?” Michael answered by asking me another question. “Yes. So tell me, when did you get in here?” I asked Michael again.

“It is a secret.” Michael replied. Now I have to go to ask Janice if she has seen Michael coming into the living room.

“Okay.” I said as I walked towards the kitchen. “Wait, where are you going?” Michael asked me a question. “It is a secret.” I replied to him trying to copy what he answered to me a while ago.

“Fine, I will tell you.” Michael said as soon as I walked a few steps away from him and in my place a while ago. “So what was it?” I asked Michael.

“I came inside the living room when you said ‘thanks’ to Janice. She saw me coming in the living room and I gave her a signal not to tell you I am in the living room already then she messed up your hair. Good now?” Michael explained.

“Whaa! We were almost got caught off guard.” I said to myself and released a deep breath.

That was a thrilling feeling I just felt.

“Good. They are preparing the dinner. I will watch a movie here first.” I said to Michael. I do not have anything to do here as of the moment. I am so tired to go upstairs and get my phone. I will just watch there or listen to music so why not I will use this big TV screen here for watching?

“I see. That is great so what are you going to watch?” Michael asked. Something came to my mind after I heard him ask me a question.

“It’s a secret.” I said to tease him. “Whaa! Are you still up to that?” Michael asked. “Well, basically yes!” I said and turned on the TV.

“What? Hey. I will still be here though and watch with you.” Michael said and stuck his body on mine.

“What the hell are you doing? There is a freaking huge space on this sofa.” I said to Michael as I try to push him away from me.

“I told you. I will watch too, right?” Michael replied to my question.

“s**t!” I cussed on my mind. “I do not need you to be like this. You can still watch with me without doing this to me.” I said to Michael and continued to push him away.

“What made him stick with me like this? I do not like him being clingy like this. This is over the universe.” I said to myself while complaining about what Michael is doing to me.

“No, I want to be like this.” Michael insisted. “How are you going to watch comfortably being like this? What you are doing is so uncomfortable with me.” I said and complained to Michael.

“This nutshell.” I added it to my mind.

“Still not going to move.” Michael said and I stood up. “Then you watch on your own.” I said to him, It is better to go upstairs than wasting my time here with Michael.

“Stop. I am just kidding. I will sit here.” Michael said before I did my first step out of the living room to go upstairs.

“Ugh!” I exclaimed and sat again on the sofa. Michael is now at the edge of the sofa. So he can do it. I know he is kidding but I am annoyed because of him having a lot of fun.
