12 - Controlling Abilities

Andrea      When we made it back to the cottage, Aunt Kay already had dinner sitting on the table.  After washing our hands, we joined her at the dining table.  The food she made was amazing as always.  Dinner consisted of  homemade chicken and noodles, with mashed potatoes and rolls.  It was so good I even had a third serving.       After Jada and I were finished eating, we offered to help clean up the kitchen, but Aunt Kay was quick to interject saying, "This is a piece a cake for a wolf like me or Andrea, plus I want to see just how well Andrea can control this particular ability of hers.  To start with, Andrea, I want you to move the basket that held the rolls from the table to the counter."     "I don't think that I can do that," I tried to explain, but got cut off before I could say another word..     "Do not ever doubt yourself when it comes to your abilities.  There have been several of us in our family that have had this exact same ability, and so far, we have all been able to master it," she tried to assure me.     "Okay I will try, but I have never made something appear in a specific spot.  Usually it happens when I can't find something, I snap or clap in frustration and whatever it is just appears in a random place," I told her.     She gave a little chuckle then responded, "Just think about the basket and picture it on the counter in your mind, then snap your fingers."     I looked at the basket on the table then closed my eyes and pictured it on the counter before I snapped my fingers.  When I opened my eyes, I couldn't help but to squeal in delight seeing that the basket was indeed on the counter.  I ran to my aunt first, and gave her a big hug, then I ran to Jada and gave her a big hug as well.  Of course Jada and I jumped and squealed while we were hugging.     My aunt's silver eyes held so much pride when she said, "Great job Andrea, now let's see if you can get the rest of the dishes into the sink."     "Oh I got this now," I said cockily, then quickly snapped all of the dishes on the table into the sink in one snap.     My aunt gasped loudly then whispered, "How in the hell?"     "What?  Did I do something wrong?" I quickly asked.     "No, special one, I just have never in all my life seen any of us be able to move that many different things at the same time.  That was truly remarkable.  I knew you were special.  I could feel how strong your aura is as soon as I got close to your car yesterday," explained Aunt Kay.     I twisted on the end of my braid as I shyly said, "Thank you, I had no idea."     "It is my pleasure, now lets go finish washing up these dishes," she said as she grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the sink.     After we finished the dishes, we joined Jada on the couch in the living room.  She was flipping through my diary with a look of pure awe swirling in her violet eyes.  She was in such a daze, she didn't realize we had sat down with her until I cleared my throat.  She jumped at the sound, and dropped the diary in her lap.  My aunt and I both erupted in a fit of laughter.     Jada just stuck her lip out, pouting as she mumbled, "That's not funny.  It's not nice to sneak up on somebody."     Once I got my laughter under control, I choked out, "I am sorry, but we didn't not sneak up on you.  You were in such a daze, you just didn't hear us come in."     She pouted for another minute, before she bounced back to her normal peppy demeanor and asked, "So what are we going to do tomorrow?"     Aunt Kay excitedly replied, "First, after breakfast I am going to take you ladies to my favorite spot here on the territory.  In the evening, we will just hang out and relax.  The day after that we will be joining the pack for dinner at the pack house, if you are up for it."     "That sounds great, " I responded then added, "What should we wear in the morning?"     "We will shift into our wolf form before we leave the house in the morning.  I will carry a small bag with a sundress for each of us, just in case we want to shift back at any point," she explained.     "This is going to be so exciting," Jada suddenly squealed, unable to control her excitement.     Looking more tired by the second, Aunt Kay said, "Alright ladies, I need to head to bed.  This old body needs a good nights rest for our adventure in the morning."  She winked at us, then stood up from the couch.     "Good night, Aunt Kay," we both called out, as she walked past us toward her bedroom.       Jada shifted in her seat to face me then said, "Hey, we should go sit on the porch swing, and watch the sun finish setting.  It was one of the things we used to do most nights before we left our home pack.       I quickly agreed and we both rushed out of the cottage and plopped down onto the swing.  It was a beautiful sunset, with pinks and light purples mixing with oranges and yellows.  We sat there in a comfortable silence for a while, enjoying the view.       In front of the porch was a flowerbed with several purple hyacinth in the middle and elephant ears on each side.  On one side of her front yard was a row of different colored lilies.  On the other side was a row of different colored irises.  At the front of the yard, there was a peony bush on each side of the walkway entrance.  In the middle of the yard were a few different colored rose bushes placed sporadically.  Overall it was a very nice arrangement of the flowers.       Even after the sun had fully set, we continued to sit on the porch swing in silence, only now we were gazing at the moon and stars.  Another thing we did all the time when we were still at home.       Just as I was starting to feel drowsy I heard the sound of a car engine coming down the gravel road.  We could see a silver jaguar as it parked in front of the pack house.  A second later the guy from the portrait stepped out of driver's seat.       He had what I felt to be a very dark aura surrounding him.  I couldn't get a good look at him, but his posture made him look tired.  Suddenly, he straightened his back and whipped his head in our direction.  I could see a pair of gold eyes looking in our direction.  I couldn't help but to smirk at him.  I was sure he couldn't see us any better than we could see him, and I was not going to let his dark aura have any effect on me.       After a second he stalked to toward the pack house, and didn't waste even a second getting inside.  Once he was out of sight, I exhaled a sigh.  Jada quietly whispered, "Woah, that was intense.  Did you see the way he stared at us?"     "Right," I whispered back, then added nonchalantly, "I don't like him already.  He has a very dark aura about him."     "Hmm, well not everybody can be as peppy as me," she boasted as she used her thumbs to point at herself.       I giggled at her, as I pulled her into my side for a hug.  After a few more minutes I said, "I don't think I can keep my eyes open for much longer."     Jada agreed, then we went back into the cottage, locked the door and headed toward our own rooms.  At the last second I heard Jada whisper, "Good night, Andrea."     I whispered back, "Good night Jada," then we both went into our rooms.  I was so tired, I changed into a big t-shirt that I took from Anton and didn't even bother putting any new bottoms on.  Once my skirt hit the floor, I crawled into bed and was out like a light.
