11 - Exploring the Pack House

    The walk to the pack house was as short as I remembered it being from yesterday.  To say I was nervous would be an understatement.  I was sweating bullets, which made me thankful I wore a tank top and didn't forget to apply my deodorant.  

    The front door was already wide open and there were a few wolves sitting in chairs on the porch.  As soon as we started walking up the steps to the porch, every one of them quit talking and stared us down.  It made me even more nervous than I was already feeling.  Luckily Jada being the outgoing shewolf she was quickly said, "Hey everybody, I am Jada and this is Andrea.  We are from the Forest Pack, and we are here visiting Andrea's Aunt Kay."

    They gave us a very warm welcome after that.  While we were still talking on the porch, a stunning shewolf appeared from within the pack house.  She had the prettiest blonde hair, that fell in waves to halfway down her back.  And her eyes, they were a sparkling emerald color, full of love.  She gracefully walked towards us and extended her hand out as she said, "Welcome to the Twisted Moon Pack.  I am Luna Kayla and if you need anything don't hesitate to ask."

    We both shook her hand, then she offered to give us a tour of the pack house.  We eagerly accepted and followed her, while she showed us everything in the pack house, giving us tidbits of historical facts along the way.  She also introduced us to other pack members we passed along the way.  Everybody welcomed us eagerly.  This seemed to be a very social and caring pack.  It reminded me of our pack back home and made me feel a little homesick.

    Sensing my sudden change in mood, Jada grabbed ahold of my hand while she said, "I miss our pack too, but this is so awesome.  I can't believe we did it."

    I squeezed her hand in agreeance and continued to follow Luna Kayla.  Of course, when we got to the hall with the mysterious portrait, I couldn't help but stop once again and stare at the attractive man with the haunted eyes.  I felt so strongly that those haunted eyes were trying to tell me something or warn me about something.  This time though, it gave me a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.  

    When Luna Kayla realized I was staring at the portrait, she walked back to me and lightly squeezed my shoulder.  I turned to her and asked, "Who is this man?  I have yet to see him around here."

    She immediately responded, "Oh honey, that is just our Beta, Jesse.  He is out of town on some pack business.  Gamma Ashton is also currently out of town on pack business.  You will get to meet both of them when they return.  Should just be another day or two."

    I couldn't help but admit, "I don't know that I want to meet him."

    Her and Jada both looked taken aback by my comment, but I couldn't help it.  I was getting a really bad feeling in my gut, and my instincts were screaming for me to stay the hell away from him at all costs.  Luna Kayla looked at me questioningly so I simply said, "I don't know why, but I get a very unsettling feeling when I see this man's portrait."

    "Oh sweetie," she gushed, "he is just a harmless teddy bear.  You need not worry about him."

    "Okay Luna Kayla, I will take your word for it," I wearily said.

    "You ladies can call me Kayla.  I have grown very fond of your Aunt Kay.  She has been my personal confidant since I found Alpha Drake and moved here.  He told me about you ladies, and why you have come to visit our pack.  I must say that I am rooting for you both.  You see, I was a lot like you before I found Drake."  She paused remembering the memory then continued, "I was already 23 when I left my original pack to search for my mate.  I don't know why I waited so long to go search for him myself, but I was so glad when I finally went for it.  If I hadn't, we surely would have never crossed paths.  Our packs never visited each other because they were so far away from each other."

    "Wow Lu...I mean Kayla, that was such a brave thing to do.  You are officially my heroine," Jada gushed.

    Kayla and I both chuckled at Jada's sudden outburst, but I could tell it meant a lot for Luna Kayla to hear those words.  It made her pretty emerald eyes sparkle with pride.  She pulled us both into a group hug and said, "I see this being the beginning of a wonderful friendship."  

    I could feel the love and warmth radiating off of her in waves.  She had a very strong Luna aura, and I was loving every minute that we got to spend with her.  I made a mental note to visit with her as often as possible while we were staying with my aunt.  

    Once she let us go from the embrace, we continued touring the pack house, chatting along the way.  All in all, exploring the pack house and learning the history of the pack was enlightening.  By the time we were finished seeing everything it was getting close to dinner time.  I grabbed ahold of Jada's hand and said, "We should probably head back to the cottage.  I would hate for my aunt to be worrying about us for no reason."

    She quickly agreed, then Luna Kayla led us back to the front door.  Once we got out on the porch we both turned to face her.  "Thank you for the tour.  I would love to visit you again while we are staying at Aunt Kay's," I said.

    "Please visit anytime you would like.  It has been a pleasure to spend this time with you ladies.  You both have been a breath of fresh air for me," she happily exclaimed.

    Jada was next speak up, "Most definitely, Kayla.  I want to hear more about your adventures searching for your mate."  

    Kayla gave us a wink and then we all said good bye.  

    On the walk back to the cottage, I thought about how wonderful of a day it turned out to be so far.  First, I learned that my Aunt Kay has special abilities like me, and that it runs in our family.  Then we met Luna Kayla who was very sweet, and a lot of fun to spend time with.  It was the happiest I had been in a very long time.  I felt like we had made the perfect choice when we decided to come here to the Twisted Moon Pack.
