Andrea
I woke up to the delicious aroma of coffee and bacon. I jumped out of bed and headed in the direction of the amazing aroma.
I could hear my Aunt's soft voice humming as I got closer to the kitchen. It was nostalgic to hear her humming again, after so many years of not seeing or talking to her. I decided to keep quiet so that I could enjoy the moment. As I got closer, the sight I took in made me stop dead in my tracks.
Standing in the middle of the kitchen was my Aunt Kay with her back to me. I watched her snap her fingers softly, then 3 glasses appeared on the counter. After another snap, they were filled with orange juice. A third snap, and they disappeared from the counter and reappeared on the dining table.
At first, I couldn't move. I stood still and silent, while I watched my aunt in awe. After a few seconds, I realized she should be able to help us understand what has been going on with me.
I tiptoed across the living room to Jada's bedroom, so I could wake her up. Of course, she would still be asleep. She has always slept in later than me. I walked to the side of her bed and gently shook her to avoid startling my friend. When she started to stir, I murmured next to her ear, "Jada, you have to get up. There is something I need you to see."
She jumped out of bed looking at me with a worried expression plastered on her face. Right away, I whispered, "It's okay Jada. It's not anything to worry about, but you seriously have to see this with your own eyes. Hurry and follow me, but be quiet."
Jada nodded her head at me and climbed off the bed, then we tiptoed out of her room. She followed behind me until I stopped. At which point, she moved to my side.
Right at that moment, we watched my aunt snap her fingers. Out of nowhere, the plate of bacon disappeared from the counter and reappeared on the dining table, just like she did with the orange juice. Jada gasped in surprise, causing my aunt to suddenly whip around and glance at us in sheer horror.
With excitement bubbling inside of me, I ran to Aunt Kay and gave her a tight hug, while happily mumbling, "Don't worry Aunt Kay, your secret is safe with us! Would you like to know why?"
Aunt Kay returned the hug before looking me straight in the eyes and responding, "Most definitely! I would love to know why!" The next second, she snapped her fingers one last time and chirped, "Let's talk over breakfast."
Once we were all seated and our plates were filled with the bacon and pancakes she had made for us, I could feel my aunt's gaze on me. I figured instead of telling her that I had the same ability I saw her using, I showed her.
I thought about the diary, where I had been writing down all the strange occurrences that had happened over the years. After letting out a nervous sigh, I snapped my own fingers, making the diary appear in my empty hand.
Aunt Kay's beautiful silver eyes widened to the size of saucers. She was completely silent as she stared at me with intrigue swirling in those stunning eyes of hers.
Jada and I exchanged glances before we burst into a fit of uncontrollable laughter. We couldn't stop ourselves from laughing. It was so funny to see my aunt's shocked face.
After she came out of the momentary shock, she slowly rose from her seat and walked over to me. As soon as she was standing in front of me, Aunt Kay cupped my cheeks in the palm of her hands, while gazing into my eyes with love and adoration.
A second later, she affectionately mumbled, "My Goddess, if I had known, I would have pushed to bring you here sooner. There is so much for you to learn. You see, sweetness, we come from a long line of hybrids. Not everyone gets blessed with these abilities, but those who do are stronger, bigger, more agile, and most importantly... extraordinarily special. The Moon Goddess has given you these abilities, because she knows you will be put to the test more than most others."
"Put to the test more? What the hell is that supposed to mean?" I found myself asking.
"I have no way of knowing what these tests will be, but I do know, losing your parents at such a young age was no doubt one of them, and there will be more. I would like to know everything about your abilities, if you don't mind," she excitedly responded.
"There have been a lot of strange occurrences over the years, but mostly along the lines of what you saw me do. You are more than welcome to read over this diary. I have written every one of them down in it," I explained as I pushed the diary into my aunt's hands.
"That is wonderful, I would love to take a look at it. In the meantime, why don't you ladies go mingle with some other pack members. You know, you won't find you mates if you sit around my cottage all day," she said as she chuckled.
"So wise you are, Aunt Kay. Jada, where would you like to start exploring today?" I asked while glancing in her direction.
She had been surprisingly quiet during the breakfast, but as soon as she heard me speak her name, she cheerily answered, "I say we start at the pack house."
"That is a great idea," Aunt Kay enthusiastically replied before she turned to me with a serious expression and stated, "Andrea, you must keep your abilities to yourself as best you can. It is not safe to let other wolves know about your abilities. Some of them will certainly see you as a threat instead of a special werewolf."
Rea had already given me the same warning, so I made it a point to reassure my aunt that I had been hiding my abilities for that reason for many, many years.
Without hesitation, Jada and I split ways to our bedrooms, so we could get ready for our day. After taking a quick shower, I decided to wear my black skirt that fit snugly around my waist, and flared around the top of my thighs.
Unfortunately, the length of it only reached the area above my knees. It was a tad bit shorter than I liked my skirts and dresses to be, but I figured since it looked so good on me, why not? For the upper half of my body, I went with a pink lacy tank top, and I completed the outfit with a pair of black flats.
Of course, I put my hair in the usual French braid, then I proceeded to apply a little make-up. Typically, I didn't wear much make-up, but I decided to put on more than usual.
I never used concealer, not feeling the need to, but I did apply 3 different colors of eye shadow. A light pink on the main eyelid, a light silver on the brow bone, and a medium purple in the crease.
After that, I applied mascara to my eyelashes, but I didn't bother with eyeliner. I was never a fan of it either. After applying some blush and a light pink lipstick, I walked back to the living room.
Right away, I saw Jada sitting on the couch chatting with Aunt Kay, and she looked gorgeous as well. She was wearing a yellow sundress with little pink flowers all over it that she paired with her yellow flip-flops.
Jada had applied some make-up as well. She wore a simple gold eye shadow, black eyeliner, blush, and a beautiful gold lipstick.
Not wasting any time, Jada jumped up from the couch and locked arms with me, as she eagerly asked, "Are you ready to do this?"
I sighed with nervousness before responding, "I am as ready as I'm gonna be."
Jada giggled like a school girl, as she led us out of the cottage and towards the pack house. I could tell my friend was excited about possibly finding her mate, and I was equally excited.
