As Claire mentioned, the group only stooped once the sun was about to set. They chose to camp near the river. This is done upon Asther’s request. Something which Octavia didn’t like herself but, could do nothing about it since Claire willingly heeded to Asther’s request.
As such the group rested there. The two male soldiers began to set up tents where they’d sleep in while Octavia began preparing food. Meanwhile, Asther is left with nothing to do. After all, he is specifically instructed by Claire to lay back and relax since this isn’t part of the contract he has been hired for.
