I never meant to hurt my daughter. Never meant to make my children feel abandoned, or doubt my love for them. Life didn't turn out anything like I had pictured for myself when I married at twenty. My dreams were big, bright, and promising. But a man got in the way. I let him. He promised I would go back to school, he promised a lot of things and I believed him. Looking back now, I see it was all just a way to get me to stay by his side. Once I started having kids, I really had no choice but to stay with him because he was the bread winner while I stayed home and stayed pregnant. Even though I never saw the bars forming around me, he was caging me in the house, keeping me all to himself.
