I knew I should have ignored the crying, but I am the Beta, and it is my job to protect the Luna. I will never recognize Shelby as my Luna. I had heard about what happened months ago when the former Beta ended up cutting ties with the pack and leaving with Sabrina, who was Nico’s true mate. We had all heard about it as Nico lost his mind from being forced to reject her at the gates. Shelby was ecstatic, but it took a huge toll on Nico.
