SOPHIA’S POV I stood frozen in the empty corridor, the white hospital walls closing in on me. Emily’s text glared back from my phone screen, each word pressing down on my chest like a weight. Relief should have rushed through me. This was proof and the validation I needed. But instead, a sick twist coiled in my stomach. My fingers trembled, my pulse thumped against my throat. How was I supposed to walk back in there, look Jace in the eye, and say this out loud? Would he even believe me? Or would he accuse me of being jealous, desperate, and threatened? Or would it hurt him? I closed my eyes, inhaling. All I could see was Isabella’s smug face when she clutched her stomach earlier, playing the fragile victim. All I could hear was Jace’s voice telling me not to let her get to me.
