Back home, I headed straight to my room and stepped into a cold shower, hoping it would help calm the storm inside me. The shock of the icy water hit my skin, but it did nothing to ease the anger boiling inside me. I felt betrayed and humiliated. Sophia had lied to me, and now, I was trapped. I couldn’t expose her, couldn’t break the engagement without shaming my family, and that made the rage harder to bear.
