Chapter 10

Mia

“ What are you?” I asked, looking into those black orbs. They looked like a moonless sky.

“ Your mate,” he said, pinning me down with his eyes.

“ I don't tolerate betrayal and my patience is very thin, little mate,” he said, his voice having completely changed into something animalistic.

“ before you try to escape, think twice,” he added, before leaning down a little and placing a soft kiss on my forehead. I saw him closing his eyes and taking a deep breath and then when he opened his eyes again they were back to their usual colours.

“ Let's go, you father has been waiting for us at the table,” he said, taking my wrist in his and leading me out of the room. I let him drag me through the hallway and down to the living room. I lost my energy and ability to even walk. What did I just witnessed? I asked myself. Maybe It was just a hallucination.

“ Mia,” my dad's voice snapped me back into reality. I looked for a second before I saw him sitting at the table.

“ Dad!!!” I exclaimed before I freed my hand from his hold and ran to him.

“ how are you darling?” He asked.

“ I am fine.”

“ Did they…..

“ No,” he replied even before I could finish my words. Maybe he is afraid of them.

“ Let's start. You have a whole day to talk,” Gideon said, looking at me and then at my dad.

“ Yes, Alpha,” he said, nodding his head with a smile on his face that didn't come from his heart.

Gideon was on the head chair and I was on his right side and beside me was my father. I could see three chairs were empty on his other side and in front of me.

“ Eat,” Gideon said, making me look at him. He was serving me food.

“ Eat, princess,” he said again. I was glaring at him when my father nudged me. Turning my head I looked at my father.

“ don't,” he said, giving me a warning with his eyes.

“ Thank you, Alpha,” I said, turning my head back to look at Gideon. He immediately stiffened but when he regained his senses he smirked.

We ate with awkward silence. I could see from the corner of my eyes that his eyes were on me for the entire time.

“ I am finished,” I said and everyone stopped. I looked at everyone present on the table. They are yet to finish their huge meals.

“ You guys continue,” I said.

“ Do I have permission to talk to my father?” I asked, Gideon sarcastically.

“ Yes you have,” he replied with amusement dancing in his eyes.

“ Let's go,” I said to my father as I stood up from the chair. After excusing himself, he led me out of the house into the front yard.

“ Wow,” I mumbled to myself, looking at the well built masculine men working out with only sweatpants on.

“ don't offend the alpha, Mia,” was the first thing my father said after he came out of the house.

“ Or what. He is the one who made me come here without my consent. In other words he kidnapped your daughter, dad,” I said with frustration. I know how I feel about him and how he made me feel but I have dreams and goals that I want to follow and a career I want to pursue.

“ Mia, do you want to go to your house? Where did your mother and I spend our time,” he asked.

“ Sure,” I replied. I will agree to anything as long as I am far away from him.

“ Come,” he said, making me follow him as he led us away from the mansion.

“ Your mother and I met when I was trying to save her. She was still a college student back then. She fell for me and I knew she was my mate,” he started.

“ They came to the forest for some adventure after a year again. But their adventure turned into a nightmare when they met a bunch of rogues,” he added.

“ What is that?” I asked with confusion.

“ a group of wild and really feral wolves,” he replied. His words made me shudder. Yes, this can happen at any time since they are still living in the middle of the forest.

“ Only your mother survived the attack,” he said.

“ This is the house,” he said standing in front on an old house. It didn't looked that much old nor did it looked abandoned since my father moved out.

“ I had someone to look after it,” he answered.

“ Oh.”

“ Come.” I followed him as we both went up to the front door. Turning the knob he swung the door open before moving aside. As I looked at my surroundings I walked into the house. The floor made a creaking sound under my feet.

“ We have to do something about the floor,” he said, making me chuckle.

“ Andrew,” an old lady exclaimed as she came out of the kitchen. She looked excited and happy seeing my father.

“ Nora,” he said, walking past me and giving a gentle hug to the lady.

“ Finally you came back,” she said.

“ This time it's permanent,” he replied. What? He…. He… wants to move back here?

“ That's good.”

“ Now, you must be Mia,” she said looking at me.

“ Yes,”

“ Nice to meet you,” I said with a smile.

“ You are just like your mother,” she said. Although she is old, she is still strong and strought.

“ I have prepared both of your rooms,” she informed me.

“ I am making Lunch, call your mate here to have lunch with us,” she said. Furrowing my brows I looked at my father who was standing right next to her. His smile faltered and his body went stiff hearing her words.

“ She hadn't found her mate yet,” dad said.

“ Oh dear. Don't worry you will soon,” she said.

“ The chicken,” she said before she sprinted away towards the kitchen.

“ What is this mate thing and why is everyone so obsessed with this?” I asked, looking at him. He sighed before punching the bridge of his nose. He looked annoyed.

“ Promise you won't freak out?” He asked.

“ I won't,” my answer came faster than I had expected.

“ The moon goddess has blessed us with one life partner. You can call it the soul mate,”

“ Once we turn 18 we happen to find them and spend the rest of our lives with them,” he explained.

“ Who is this moon goddess?” I asked.

“ Selene. She is the ruler of all werewolves,” he replied.

“ What? Werewolves?” I asked, is he messing with me?

“ Yes Mia, werewolves,” he said.

“ We are werewolves,” he added.

“ We?”

“ I don't know that yet. I am a werewolf but your mother wasn't. But she changed after the marking ceremony,” he said. His words make me dizzy.

“ When I found her in the forest she refused to go back to human territory. And when I told her she is my mate she immediately accepted me,” he said.

“ I don't understand anything,” I said. I am trying to process everything but somehow it is not possible.

“ werewolves are really possessive about their mates, Mia. Especially the alphas,” he said. Gideon was calling me mate earlier. Realisation hit me like a truck when I tempered his unusual eyes.

“ It is not possible,” I whispered, shaking my head.

“ I know, baby. For humans we don't exist but there are more creatures living in the dark than one could ever imagine,” he said.

“ Once you are ready I will show you my wolf,” he added quickly.

“ What about my life in the city?” I asked. I saw guilt was washing over him as he stared at me. From his looks I knew we won't be going back this time.

“ I am sorry, baby girl. But I promise I will find a way for you to reach your goals,” he said in this heavy voice. I know he is sad but what about me? I am just….. so tired of all this.

“ I need some time,” I said, turning my back to him. I really felt bad for him. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I tried hard not to sob in front of him.

“ Where is my room?” I asked.

“ Upstairs to the left 2nd room,” he replied.

“ Ok,” I said in my small voice before I ran upstairs.

My heart was heavy and tears strained my face. As soon as I reached the 2nd room I pushed the door open before I stepped in. I closed the door behind me before locking it. I leaned back on the door as I let my heart out. Slowly I slide down sobbing uncontrollably. I brought my knees to my chest and rested my head on them.

“ Now what?” I asked myself.

One part of me is denying him for kidnapping me and taking all the dreams I had. And one part of me wants to accept him. I Want to stay close to him.

Why? Why God. Why do I have to be the one to go through everything? My tears dried up and my sobbed died down. I was thinking of a solution to escape here without getting caught when my phone rings.

I took my phone out of my pocket and switches it on to see I had received a text from an unknown number.

“ I am coming to your house for dinner,” it said. I didn't have to tell me who this is. I put it away, ignoring him.

I could escape before he came here for dinner. But what about my dad? I thought. Deep down I knew he wouldn't hurt him.

Wiping the lone tears away from my face, I stood up. I made up my mind. I will not stay here. Who knows what he might do to me?

I looked around. The room is nice and big. It looked clean and neat. Nora prepared a laptop for me as well.

I decided to go do some research on wolves before leaving. I have to know what I am dealing with here.

After two hours spent on the laptop, I got a little information but most of it was folklore. But there's one thing werewolves can shift into a human form and they all have abilities. They are naturally beautiful and well built. As I was reading all these, flash back of the people from there coming in front of my eyes.

They are strong and they are incredibly fast. Then my eyes fell on the information of the alpha. They call their leaders Alpha, who leads the pack and provides safety and they call their mate Luna.

“ Mia,” my father called with a few bangs on the door.

“ Yeah?” I asked if my eyes were still glued to the screen.

“ Lunch,”

“ I am coming,” saying that I closed the laptop and stood up. The room has a window in front of my study table. From here I could see the people were all busy with their lives.

“ Maybe some other time I will visit here. I do want to know about these people and my mother,"I mumbled to myself. With a sigh I turned around and walked to the door. Turning the knob I opened the door and stepped out of the room. As I reached downstairs I saw Nora and dad both were already waiting for me at the table.

“ Hey,” I said with a smile before taking a seat.

“ Wow,” I exclaimed looking at the lemon tart and a bunch of other dishes.

“ You made all these?” I asked.

“ Yup,”

“ Can we finish these?” I asked.

“ Sure you can, a young wolf needs energy,” she answered. That's why dad's plate always looked like a mountain.

“ Sure,” I said, dismissing her. We ate in a comfortable silence but I didn't miss the glances of my dad when he and Nora were chatting.

After lunch I went up to my room saying I needed a nap.

“ Sure I will wake you up when Alpha comes here,” he said. Nodding my head at him I went up to my room. I need a few things with me before leaving. I need a proper map as I forgot the road.
