Mia
I have been searching for the map for almost 20 minutes now but there is nothing.
“ Sh*t, how do people find this place?” I asked, slumping on the bed in defeat. I have already made up my mind, even if I find one I am still leaving this place.
I waited anxiously, looking out of the window. I am waiting for the sun to set. I have already written two letters. One for my dad and another one for Gideon. I am hoping that he won't try to find me after I am gone.
I took the small waist bag and wrapped it around my waist as I stood up. I found a few things to use on my run and one of the things was a wards of cash in the safe in the walk-in closet. I took a few of them in my bag cause I am going to need it later. I also changed my clothes into a black fitted hoodie and black jeans.
The last light of day was gone making the room slightly dark.
“ I am sorry, dad,” I said looking over my shoulder towards the door. With a sigh I looked back and walked to the window. Taking a deep breath I opened the window carefully.
“ Shoot,” I said when I looked down. Maybe I will end up with one or two fracture bones, I thought as I jumped.
“ Urmm,” I groaned in pain, rolling on the ground. I breathed heavily as I sat up and waited for a few seconds before I stood up. I winced in pain as soon as my left foot touched the ground.
“ You can't give up, Mia,” I repeated these words in my mind, looking at the treeline a little bit far away from my house. That's where the dense forest starts. I am scared but I am ready to take the risk. I can't stay in the middle of nowhere for the rest of my life.
“ It's now or never,” I said before I started running towards the dense forest. Adrenaline rushed through my veins when I picked up my pace crossing the clearing and entering into the treeline.
I stopped, when I stepped into the forest and looked back towards the house. The light of my room was still off, which means dad didn't find out yet.
“ I will contact you, once I am out of the country,” I mumbled , turning my back towards the house and walking away.
The tall and dense trees make it impossible for moonlight to reach the garden. Thank goodness I found the night vision glass in the closet. I took it out and wore it before I started running again.
I can't afford to take a rest now, so I thought of pushing myself to get to the road. Once I am on the main road, I will be able to find my way from there.
I didn't know how long it had been but my feets were giving up. I stopped for a moment panting heavily and I leaned my back on a tree.
“ Oh gosh,” I panted, trying to catch my breath. That's when I heard a loud howl of a wolf. My blood runs cold and my soul crawls back under my skin.
No. No. No. It's not true. It's just a story of my dad to make me stay. These words kept playing in my head as I shook my head, refusing to believe what I just heard. Then it growled again but this time I heard a few more growls followed by the loud one. It felt like the sound was coming closer and closer.
I tried to back into the tree when I heard the sound of paws hitting the ground. Tears welling up in my eyes. I didn't dare to make a sound because from what I know if those are wolves they will be able to hear it from Miles away even if I sigh.
I shook my head, no. I should not wait for my death like this. If this is my fate then I will fight for it until my last breath. With a deep intake of breath I started walking cautiously, trying not to make a sound. I need to hide somewhere till they are gone.
I looked around to see if I could see them but there was nothing as I moved carefully. Maybe they had gone in another direction, I thought , realizing my breath that I was holding. That's when I heard a sinister snarl behind me.
I immediately turned around to see there was a huge wolf standing on the rock behind me only a few feets away. He was licking his lips, snarling at me.
My heart pounded in my chest, looking at him. I took a step back which made it angry as it growled. He jumped from the rock and landed in front of me.
“ Please, don't,” I said as I was walking backwards until my back hit a tree.
“ Leave me, alone,” I said looking at the insanely terrifying creature in front of me. I have never heard of a wolf this large like the one standing in front of me. He only growled at my face coming closer. Of course he doesn't know human language does he?
Then the next moment what I saw was out of a movie scene. I heard sickening cracking of bones which made me sick to my stomach. Then the wolf I saw standing earlier was gone, replacing a human.
“ What a Beauty,” he said, licking his lips like I was some kind of a meal. He sniffed the air closing his eyes and when he opened them I saw him staring at me with lust.
“ What on earth is a human doing in the middle of the most dangerous forest?” He asked, rubbing his hands and walking towards me.
“ I am telling you, stay away from me,” I said. I was hoping for the tree to open up so I could hide in there. Oh god, what have I gotten myself into?
“ I am not here to harm you, little bird,” he said, laughing, like a Maniac.
“ Get away from me,” I yelled, pushing him away when he came too close to my liking. And the next moment a crisp slap came across my cheek. He slapped me with such a force that it nearly blinded me.
“ I didn't want to harm your pretty little face,” he said, sounding sorry for me, if I didn't know any better. I felt disgusted.
“ We don't have a beauty like you in our little pack,” he said, grabbing my shoulders. I struggled in his hold as he was too strong for me to handle.
“ Come to me, baby. I can give you a luxurious life,” saying that he ripped the sleeves of the hoodie.
“ Stay away,” I tried to push him.
“ I will have so much fun with you,” he added, ripping the other sleeve as well.
“ No!!!” I screamed at his face but he remained unfazed.
My son got louder and louder as I closed my eyes accepting my fate. The next moment I felt his weight lifting off of my body and he was flying away from me.
I gasped when I saw another black wolf standing in the place of that man. He is larger than the previous one. Under the moonlight his fur was glistening like a midnight blue colour. And his amber eyes were boring into my soul. Gideon? I reached to touch his face but he turned his back on me as he was growling at the injured wild.
“ I….. i….. didn't know. She is from your pack,” he groaned out.
The black wolf growled before pouncing on him. The moment I stepped aside I saw his lifeless body on the ground. Both of my hands flew up on my mouth staring into his lifeless eyes.
As I looked up to see the wolf who just saved me and killed a man, I felt as if someone had knocked the air out of my lungs.
“ Gideon,” I gasped looking at him. I ran up to him before pulling him in a tight hug. I have never imagined in my wildest dreams that I would be this happy seeing him. But I felt disappointed when he didn't hug me back.
“ Thank you,” I said, pulling away.
“ Mia,” I heard Emma's voice coming from behind Gideon.
“ Emma?”
I saw him coming out from behind with a robe in her hand. Relief washed over me when I saw her and Justin.
Gideon took the robe from his hand before wrapping it around my body. Then he picked me up in a bridal style before he started running at lightning speed. I hate that he didn't say anything but I knew he is angry from the way his jaw ticked.
“ I am taking you to my house,” he said crossing the clearing.
“ No please,” I said looking up at him.
“ I want to stay with my dad,” I added quickly. I wanted to apologise to him for running away. I also want to know more about these people.
“ I am staying with you,” he said in his deep angry voice, taking me to my father's house.
