"You saved me?", She asked and soon fell into the coma before he could give a reply, the world was unfortunately quiet, the beautiful green germs couldn't be seen either, which he found regretful.
Ignoring those regrets he continued to check if she had any broken bones, keeping his touch deliberately impersonal despite the urge to indulge in the beautiful feeling of her creamy skin against his rough wheat skin.
Taking a deep breath, Jason suppressed the surging emotions she evoked in him and carefully carried her into his black Cayenne after making sure moving her won't aggravate her injuries. He had studied a little of medecin, and had followed the rescue team in their line of work, so he knew exactly what to do.
After carefully placing her in the car, he rushed for her sling bag and came back to drive her to the nearest hospital.
The nearest hospital was at least half an hour's drive, hopefully she could hold on till then, it would be a pity if she really died in his callouse care.
"How is she?" Jason asked with a frown, looking down at the girl who had been cleaned after her operation. Her appearance was much clearer and her beauty well defined, fresh and mesmerizing with a slender figure. She looked even more petite dressed in a hospital stripped blue gown. Her face slightly regained its healthy flush, while her pale lips looked even more profound, if he hadn't brought her here today he would have thought she had done some make-up.
'She really didn't need any make-up' ; Jason thought to himself, reluctantly shifting his attention from her.
"She's no longer in a critical condition, the rescue was timely, so she's considered quite lucky." The doctor gave a brief explanation of her condition with a sigh. He could deduce from the doctors tone that her health had earlier been in danger. The highway is barely frequented, even less during festive periods and cold weathers. Perharps her fate wasn't a premature death, coincidentally he happened to be driving her way.
"It was such a lucky coincidence that you drove her way, no body would ussually drive during a dangerouse weather in a mountainouse area, rocks could roll down at any time." The doctor added, while Jason merely listened to his analyst with indifference, he didn't really believe in coincidences.
His subordinates had called as soon as he took the injured to the hospital, the clues he had been rushing for had suddenly dissappeared. He understood that the members of the AGI group were quite cautiouse and cunning with all types of complexe schemes. It wasn't easy to track their movements, but the clue had suddenly evaporated in empty air.
Looking down at the unconsciouse little lady, he recalled with precision the informations he got of her from her Identication card.
Her Identification card stated that she was born on the 5th day of the fifth month of the year in Crown.
For the moment he hadn't had time to make a complete background check on her.
"Have you been able to reach her family?"
"Not yet." The doctor shook his head with dissapointment.
"What's the reason ?"
"We've gone through her contact list, she has very few contacts, but we managed to reach them to no avail. I reckoned they're all gathered for Christmas eve with their phones turned off."
Jason gave a silent nod, he had seen the contact list which didn't have morethan eight contacts, either because she just had a new card or she was just the introverted and reserved type.
"Doctor Paul, a family member of Miss Snowe just called, he's on his way to the hospital." A nurse rushed over and reported concisely.
"Alright, it's good as long as there is a reply."
Jason didn't comment on the sudden news of a family member, he narrowed his deep blue eyes and contemplated without a change of expression. It was unknown what were his thoughts when he looked at the slender little girl in bed. She was still unconsciouse, giving off a peaceful and natural aura arround her.
"I would take my leave, Mr Wexter, I've got other patients to attend to." Dr. Paul finally said after making sure his current patient wouldn't need his presence. He was very meticulouse with his work ethic, good chance he had brought her here for an immediate emergency treatment.
He had known Dr.Paul for quite a year now, which made it easier to settle everything with Whiteney Snowe's operation and rescue. It would have been difficult to get a good specialist to take the lead in her rescue on christmas Eve.
"Alright, her condition is stable now." The elder doctor added after a last formal check up on her.
"Thank you Dr Paul and sorry for calling you over today." Jason apologised sincerely, after all not everyone would gladly leave their home on a festive period.
"It's alright Mr Wexter, I was on my way when you called, afterall I also had some matters to settle at the hospital." Dr Paul explained with concision, regarding Jason Wexter with respect.
"God in on her side." Dr Paul said glancing down at the peaceful girl who was deep asleep, probably unaware of anything. He knew that God would never let anything happen to his children no matter how bad the situation might seem. He was a strong believer in the Lord Jesus christ, believing that nothing escapes this omnipotent God. But not many people have that believe in God anymore, they had probably even forgotten the real meaning behind christmas, which was the birth of christ. The king who had been born to save the world with his blood, after dying on the cross of calvary.
The world is long changing, giving everyone the right to worship whom ever they place their trust in, as a Christian, he had learned not to judge others.
"Alright, I shall then take my leave."
"Thanks for your assistance Dr. Paul."
Doctor Paul gave a silent nod before walking out, he didn't take the matter of saving Miss Snowe to heart. As a doctor he had just done his duty, God had never intended to take her life, if it wasn't him, it would have been any other doctor.
Oblivious of Dr Paul's thoughts, Jason Wexter took a deep breath, massaging his throbbing temples, he looked at the sleeping figure.
She was so peaceful, lying motionlessly on the bed, with the heaving of her chest as the only proof that she still had a breath of life. Her head was covered with gauze, covering her entire forehead, while a few parts of her body had some cuts. She didn't seem to be much injured, it was difficult to associate her with the person who had been fighting for her life a few hours ago.
She was clean and tidy, unlike a few hours ago, her pale white body had been covered with dust, while her golden lush blonde locks seemed to have been died red. It was unknown how she turned out in that state, lying motionlessly on the highway without any signs of life. Had it been he wasn't prudent in his drive, he would have crushed her before noticing her presence. There aren't cameras installed in that remote area, so he could only wait for her to gain consciouseness, he had a lot of questions that demanded her answer.
Jason Wexter took out a chain USB out of his pocket, looking at it with a frown. The silver USB had the size of a thumb with few words inscripted on it; words he was very familiar with.
'AGI?' he called out the abreviation that had deeply been stored in his heart for half a decade, becoming his nightmare and obsession. His thoughts continued to trail away when a loud clap brought him back to his senses.
With the curtains of the ward slightly opened, he could deduce the colorful effects of fire works tracing the dark sky.
"It was finally christmas."
He murmured to himself with melancholy, immersed in his thoughts of the past, while reminding himself that his sister would probably get mad at him again, but he couldn't help it either.
Lowering his head from the curtains, Jason Wexter came in contact with a pale blue saphire pupils. This should probably make the second time he had got a glimps of such pretty eyes, as beautiful as two pairs of beads. She blinked tiredly, staring straight into his eyes without uttering a word, her eyes were deep like a whirlpool. He almost felt drawned by its charm that made it impossible for him to extricate from it.
It took a whole amount of his will power to pull away from the charms of her captivating pupils, he'd wondered if he had been enchanted to meet her.
"Miss Snowe." He called out with a slight unfamiliariaty to his tone, yet she kept staring at him in confusion. It made him wonder if he'd picked up the wrong ID, he would have thought so if he had picked others card from her navy blue sling bag. He was sure he hadn't mistaken her name, the picture itself on the student card despite its slight difference had proven to be thesame exquisite appearance of a femme fatale.
He'll admit she was a femme fatale with an innocent baby face that made impossible to be suspiciouse of her, yet he had to maintain his call for judgement.
"Did you call me, Miss Snowe?" She finally spoke, at which he unintentionally let out a gasp of surprise. He had heard many beautiful voices in his life, but hers was different, just like a touch of melody, her words flowed like spring, despite it being slightly hoarse probably because her throat was dry, it was like scratching one's heart.
He not only had to admit she was a femme fatale, but he had to say she was like an immortal goddess who had lost her way. Perharps others might find it an exegaration to her beauty, but he didn't.
