(Vaughn) I drove back to Donovan's house with the bag from my locker sitting on the passenger seat. Just some personal items. A few things I'd left behind when Sloane kicked me out. Nothing important. But I couldn't leave them there forever. The drive to Ballard took twenty minutes. Traffic was light for a Saturday afternoon. When I pulled into Donovan's driveway, he was outside watering the small patch of lawn in his front yard. He looked up when I parked and turned off the hose. "Get everything you needed?" he asked. "Yeah. Just some stuff from my locker." I grabbed the bag and followed him inside. The house smelled like coffee and something cooking on the stove.
