THE GOLEM'S STORY

570 Words
Considering the point that the prince had been lonely without anyone for company except for the golem who as good as wanted to eat him, Prince Koda started seeing little hope about himself instead of feeling doomed once he met Grendale. At first he was on his alert despite Grendale talked to him nicely and didn't do anything suspicious. But as time went by he slowly relaxed towards him and started trusting in him. Finally, they were both laughing and talking about stuffs (like boring classes, beautiful girls, places they had seen, etc.) just like two normal teenage boys. When what felt like hours, Grendale got up and went towards the golem who had been relaxing till now but as soon as it saw him, quick as lightning became alert and defensive. When he was near enough to it he could make out tiny mumbling like ' please spare me', ' I didn't do anything wrong',' just got overcome by hunger' and such others. Grendale stopped near it and looked up into its big red fear filled eyes and spoke softly, " Hey big guy. I am sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you." Hearing him the golem stopped muttering and looked at him. Grendale smiled widely at it. Slowly the corners of the golem's mouth too twisted up slightly into a little smile.  ' Smiles art'contagious. Th'elders were right abou' this theory ', thought the prince. Seeing the golem smile with him, Grendale slowly posed a question, " Say. You said you were stuck here for 13 years, right? Who are you then? Where did you live before you came here?". The smile immediately vanished like it was never there and the golem looked away from him. Grendale knew that his questions might have induced some sad memories in it but he had to ask. Who knew which info may come in handy in defeating the King of Chaos. " I am sorry. I know my questions may have revived some painful memories in you. You don't have to answer if you don't want to. I can understand. 13 years being stuck in a cave is not less." Looking one last time at it Grendale turned back to the prince. " My name is Goltimer" Grendale stopped in his tracks. He turned around to find the golem looking towards him. Keeping silent he let it continue. " My... my name is Goltimer. I.. used to live in...the fiery depths." 'Golly could I get any luckier.', thought Grendale. ' First the prince of florenum and now this stone golem from the fiery depths. What next?' But without voicing any of his thoughts Grendale let the golem continue. " I was born in the shores of the sea of lava where all the magical rocks of fiery depths are created from the flames of life. We were a happy family, my 3 elder siblings, my parents and I. We even had a fair and just king ruling us, 'Balthazar the flame lord'." The golem became silent all of a sudden. It was lost in the ocean of memories. Giving it a moment Grendale slightly urged it, " what happened then?" to continue. Snapping back to reality, the golem blinked a few times and then continued. What could have happened? What made or forced it to come to such a gloomy place? Find out in the next episode. Stay tuned lovely readers.
