After this near-death encounter, Grendale's mind went blank for a few seconds. He couldn't understand what happened that the porcupine couldn't reach him. Then realization hit him. One-horned porcupines, despite famously known for their deadly horn attack and immense strength weren't capable of jumping because of their humongous body weight. Grendale took a deep breath of relief and turned towards the pot. Now that he was safe from the creature's wraith (for a few minutes), he peeped inside to look on what was so special about this pot. Golly it was glowing like the sun. If he carried it like this not only was there a danger of accidentally spilling whatever was inside but also it's brightness could even blind him and make him loose his way. Grendale tore one of his clothes and tightly covered the pot's mouth. Now the only problem left was the porcupine. It was still roaming around waiting for him to come down so it can crush him like a grape. Looking for a way to escape it Grendale noticed large number of stalactites above on the ceiling. If he could somehow misguide this porcupine to hit the walls and make it fall then it would pin it to the ground and he could escape easily. Grendale noticed an empty sconce (torch basket) and flung his rope to it. Once the rope was securely wound around the sconce he jumped and ran along the wall to the middle of it. The porcupine charged towards him but in time he jumped back and the porcupine hit the wall with great force. CRACK!! The wall cracked and the tremble shook the ceiling with great force. Many stalactites few down with a zoom and hit the floor around the beast. The floor cracked and with a loud thump and crash the floor sank a little traping the beast. A few minutes later when the dust settled Grendale heaved the pot onto his back and started moving outside. He could heard the porcupine screaming with rage but he continued on and finally after a lot of climbing and descending he reached the front yard. Grendale reached the old man's hut and knocked on the door. When the man let him in he put the pot on floor and between gasping breaths asked him to activate the escalator. The old man was overjoyed at his success. He immediately made his sitting arrangements and gave him a glass of water with a few herbs which he had grown. Taking the herbs Grendale felt his strength return and felt better. The old man thanked him with all his heart and offered to help him in anyway possible. But Grendale politely declined and only asked for him to activate the escalator as he had to go somewhere urgently. Stay tuned for the next episode. Cheers.
