ALPHA BENSON
As I entered my office on the fifth floor of the magnificent establishment, my secretary, Mrs. Justina Brooks, came in. She was a middle-aged woman who had worked for my father and now had to work for me, irrespective of the fact that she was older than I was. She was very professional with her job, and I didn’t want to dismiss her yet.
“Welcome, Alpha Benson. You have about five Alphas to meet with today,” Justina told me about my work schedule and the Alphas I had meetings with.
“That’s fine. Let them in, but who am I seeing first?” I asked her, and she looked at her folder and replied, “The Alpha of the Bright Moon Pack.”
“Alright. Just let him in, and let’s get straight to business,” I told Mrs. Justina as she donned a black skirt and white shirt, featuring a black pair of shoes.
She bowed and left my office, replying, “Okay, Alpha.”
As Justina left my vast office, which was painted white and had a long desk, my office chair, and two guest chairs across from me, I looked around and turned on my computer as I waited for it to boot.
I set my briefcase open and went through the files and new partnership project that I had drafted out over the weekend.
I had the mindset to implement new rules to set my pack standard high and different from the other packs.
A few minutes later, my office line rang, and Justina informed me.
“Alpha, should I let them in?”
“Yes. Hurry up. I still have some other work to do,” I told her, and the phone call ended.
I looked at Ace and his father as they entered my office.
Ever since Ace had heard that his rejected mate, Mallory, was dead, he had looked so downcast and lost, like he was not here for business.
A part of me was worried about Ace, but why should I care?
I quickly kicked off that negative feeling and gestured to the father and son to have their seats in my office.
“So, Alpha Benson. We are here for the new plantation business and other business within your pack,” Beta Andrew said, and I nodded.
“I am aware. But my cost of business has gone high, which is why I would like you to take a look at the new contract terms and conditions,” I said, handing over a file containing the new condition that I had drafted to Beta Andrew.
Beta Andrew accepted it and looked at it, and his face darkened.
“Why would you change the contract dealings, Alpha Benson? This looks so selfish, and you know it,” Beta Andrew glared at me as he threw the file on my desk.
Ace picked it up and read it, taking a look at the newly written agreement and contract terms, and his brown eyes narrowed at me too.
“This is theft!” Ace barked, and I smirked.
“My farmers are working hard to meet my pack supplies, and you don’t expect us to distribute all our foods to the other packs to help them alone while my pack members die of hunger. It’s a simple logistics. If you don’t like my pack contract, then you can cut off the partnership deal with us. We still have other packs that will agree to it. We produce one of the best and richest food crops ever, and even the humans want to partner with my agricultural company.” I smirked, seeing the angry glares from Beta Andrew and his son.
“This is wrong, Alpha Benson. You just took over from your father, and you think that you can mess with our pack’s partnership with yours? You are calling for war!” Beta Andrew snapped at me, and I laughed.
“Bring it on. It’s either your pack accepts a 70-30% share of my company supporting yours, or you can get the fertilisers and start more farming companies in your pack,” I told him, and he looked at me angrily, snatched the file, and left my office.
“We will be back, Alpha Benson. Get ready for war!” Beta Andrew left with his son, and Ace looked at me thoughtfully before leaving too.
I smirked and continued with my work on my laptop. Mainly, my pack had been the one shouldering many packs and supplying them with food. They cannot claim to be a strong pack when they rely on us for food and other supplies. Either they cooperate with my new terms or they can move on with their animalistic ways. I don’t care. But my pack needs a lot of rebuilding, which needs more funds and investment.
Mrs. Justina contacted me again to see the next Alpha of the Dark Moon Pack. He was a ruthless leader, and he came into my office with his Beta.
I showed him the file, and he looked at it.
“Benson, why this increase? Don’t you think that a 60-40 share is enough?” Alpha Ryan asked, and I shook my head.
“No. That’s the new decision, and it’s for the benefit of all, not only my pack. It’s not a must to accept; you can choose to partner elsewhere,” I told Alpha Ryan, and unlike Beta Andrew and his son,
Alpha Ryan of the Dark Moon Pack nodded and replied calmly, “That’s fine. I will need some time to go through it and see if it will benefit my pack members. Then my Beta will get back to you,” he said, rising from the guest chair to leave my office.
“That’s fine, Alpha Ryan,” I replied to him. Though he was 10 years older than me, he looked at me, his deep blue eyes watching me, but he left with his assistant.
The same procedure went with the remaining Alphas, and one by one, they left until I was alone in my office.
Two Alphas agreed, as they wanted my company to supply them with agricultural produce this week: bags of rice, beans, maize, and the rest.
We signed the agreement, and I told them my agricultural teams would get to it.
After a hectic day in the office, I was supposed to take a stroll to visit my pack farmlands and also the schools, as I had an event to attend. They were all scheduled for this week, and I considered hiring a new secretary to keep me updated on most of my tasks.
As I stood up to leave my office, Dennis arrived, and he said, “Alpha Benson, I am through visiting the pack market and also sending out the former tax collector information identified as a wanted man.”
“Good. I am going home for today. Other duties continue tomorrow. You have done a great job,” I told Dennis, and he smiled and bowed at me.
“Thank you, Alpha,” he replied.
“You’re welcome,” I responded, and picked up my briefcase to leave my office. But Dennis asked me, “Alpha, how about the new foreigners? Are you going to see them today?”
I took a look at my left wristwatch and saw that it was after 5 p.m.
“No. Until tomorrow,” I replied. However, my wolf, Odin, got annoyed as he resurfaced and wanted me to shift to him.
“Fụck off, Odin!” I growled, and Dennis bowed to me. Sensing that I had secreted more angry pheromones, I quickly snapped out of it and told Dennis, “It’s okay. You can leave.”
“Alright, Alpha.” Dennis bowed and left my office, even though he looked hesitant and wanted to ask me questions. He did not dare to disobey me.
I grabbed my briefcase and left my office on the top floor, saying goodbye to Mrs. Justina. I left the company, got into my black car, and drove back home.
