Mallory's POV:
"Wait here," Beta Dennis ordered us as he went into the office alone. I gulped hard as the fresh scent of wild mushrooms filled my nostrils, so I stood there nervously with the remaining three people who were gazing about, as we were told not to communicate with one another.
Just then, Beta Dennis stepped out of the office door that unlocked, and he peered at us and said, "One by one, you come in with me," he said, like we were going for an interview.
I stood there watching as Beta Dennis led everyone in, one by one, until I was the last person left to see Alpha Benson.
One by one, they went into the Alpha's office and came out while a guard led them away.
I gulped the hard lump that had formed in my throat as I saw Beta Dennis lastly come out and say to me, "Come in,"
