Finding a way to locate either Empress or Radcliffe’s lost souls—wherever they might be—was proving to be a near-impossible task. Svetlana had no clue how to summon a disembodied ghost, and Empress was a spirit that magic couldn’t easily grasp.
“One would think magic could locate a werewolf’s spirit, especially if it hasn’t returned to the Lunar Kingdom. But this is entirely different,” Old Man Sever noted, trying to anchor himself in technicalities rather than sheer panic. “Empress isn’t a werewolf spirit who died—she is a spirit who voluntarily left her human’s body and remained in Hell for the sake of protecting our kind. Technically speaking, she isn’t a ghost.”
“Even if that distinction mattered, it doesn’t help us now,” Kalea stated flatly.
