35. SHADOW WOLVES

POV (ALEC) Quickly I placed a protective paw over Abelia as I tired to block her from view.  We were outnumbered and I didn't want to admit it, but we were possibly out matched.  The wolves had taken the higher ground, leaving us with no room to move. I was no fool, and knew it would only take them a second to pour in and overwhelm us.  But that was not the only issue. I had always believed I was a powerful looking wolf, but these wolves were something else.  Some were thin and lean, with not an ounce of fat on them, while others were buff and coated in rippling muscle.  Their coats were dark, not a speck of any other color could be seen.  It was as if they had been dipped in ink, shadow wolves.  But, why?  Why here?  Why now?  Had Arthur lost it to such an extent, he chose to call in th
