Mateo’s POV
I’ve lived in Richmond for most of my adult life after growing up in Virginia Beach. It was the fast city life for me and I loved it, along with the James River that ran through the city. Life was great currently. I worked as a judge during the week and enjoyed my time on the river on the weekends.
I was at home enjoying a quiet evening after being at the river all day, when the radiation washed over the city in a shockwave. I had no idea what was happening when all the electricity went off after the ground shook and I heard the screams of all of my neighbors outside. I immediately grabbed a flashlight since it was dark outside, and ran out the door to see what was going on.
I saw everyone around me was falling to the ground with red faces like they were choking
