17 | Second Encounter

Morning came and I had to wake up earlier than what I am supposed to do since Hunter has ordered me to do so. He wanted me to make him breakfast earlier because he has to leave the dorm early for their morning exercise. And as his ‘slave’, I had no choice but to follow his orders. I was putting the scrambled egg and pan-toasted bread on his plate when he came out of the shower with only a towel covering his lower body. It wasn’t my intention to stare, but the sound of the closing door caught my attention. It was just a short glance, but I was able to see how toned his body was. I vividly saw the dark lines separating his muscles into sections. “You just stared at my body, didn’t you?” he said not in an inquiring tone, but more like in a suspecting manner. “As if,” I quickly responded, rolling my eyes at him. “Your breakfast is ready. Wait, I’ll make you coffee,” I added and quickly went to the counter to get the ground coffee. “Make it quick. I have to leave before the sun starts to rise,” he told me before I heard him pull the chair. “Okay,” I replied in a prolonged tone, rolling my eyes. “Here’s your coffee, future alpha,” I sarcastically said before turning around to face him, only to see him still naked. “Can you get dressed before you eat?” “Why, are you bothered?” he said and playfully smirked at me. “Or tempted?” “It’s an eyesore,” I told him, puffing some air before going to my room to get my towel and robe. “Eat as fast as you can then leave the dorm in an instant.” “Do you really hate me that much, Maya?” he suddenly asked out of nowhere. I faced him with a wrinkled expression. “Do you really have to ask me that? Can’t you see and feel it, huh, Mr. Future Alpha?” “Well, I…” He heaved a sigh and shook his head. “I just want to know how much you hate me. I…” “I hate you to my core,” I deeply said, cutting him off. “I don’t even want to be anywhere near you only if I had the choice to do that,” I added, staring directly into his eyes. “What did I do to you for you to hate me that much?” he innocently asked and my blood just boiled the instance I heart his response. “Everything,” I coldly answered. “And please don’t act as if you’re not aware of those things, because you are. I know you know what you did to me for me to hate you like hell, Hunter,” I emphasized, turning around to stop myself from talking anymore. I clenched my hands and bit my lower lip as memories of the past flooded my mind. I took a deep breath before entering the bathroom. Maybe a cold shower will cool my head off. When I got out of the bathroom, Hunter has already left, which was a good thing. I then quickly got dressed and prepared for my class. —— “What’s with the long face?” Kaia asked me while we’re heading to our classroom. “And the sighs?” “Nothing, Kaia. My day just had a bad start,” I responded in a low-energy voice and gently shook my head. “But don’t worry, I’m fine.” “Okay.” She nodded her head before she took a step forward to block me. “Why don’t you go to our dorm later? Prince Blake will be home late, so you can stay until he gets home.” “Is it okay? Won’t he get mad at you?” She shook her head and smiled confidently. “He may look like a bad guy, but he’s really kind and considerate. I am sure he’ll be fine with it. Besides, he wants me to be with people other than him.” It took me a few seconds before I decided to nod. “Okay,” I agreed. Well, I don’t really see any reason for me to refuse her offer. This is the first time someone has ever asked me to come to their house as a friend. And it really means a lot to me. The only cause of my hesitation is that cold prince Kaia serves who seems to dislike me. “Great! Let’s drop by the supply area later after class.” “Okay.” We spent the whole day with Miss Petra doing nothing but lecture us about the things we need to remember as future warriors of our respective packs. Some are already complaining about it, but couldn’t do anything but to put up with it since anyone who complains gets asked to have a one-on-one fight with her. Personally, I don’t dislike her lectures. She’s reminding us of our roles, of our purpose why we entered the camp. Although I didn’t really come here to become a competitive warrior of our pack since I only came here to have a quick escape of my hellish life there, I love how Miss Petra reminds us of our grounds. She also gives us a vision of how essential a warrior’s role is in the pack: “Since more and more are complaining about plain lectures, we will start the training tomorrow. But make sure I won’t hear any complaints about how I will train you,” she emphasized right after she ended the discussion. “If you ever complain, I will double the intensity of your training. Got it?” “Yes, Miss Petra,” we answered synchronously. “Good. Be here at 6:00 AM. We will start the class with a warm up activity,” she instructed. “You’re dismissed.” Right after she said that, Kaia pulled me out of the classroom. “Let’s go.” I just let her pull me out of the room. “Are you ready for the training?” I asked her while she’s dragging me to the supply area. “Yes. I don’t have a choice but to be ready. Even if it will be hard, I just have to endure it until I get used to it,” she replied before she stopped walking and faced me. She smiled at me, but it didn’t really reach her eyes. “It’s better than living in the royal palace. At least here, I am free,” she added before pointing me with her finger. “And I have a friend here, too.” I couldn’t hide my smile after hearing the last words she uttered. I felt something warm gently wrapping around my heart. “I feel the same way, too,” I told her before holding her hand. “I like it more here because I got you,” I added. And my smile grew even wider after I saw her genuinely smile at me. “You!” She pouted. “You’re gonna make me cry!” I giggled at her. “Please don’t cry. They’ll think I’m bullying you,” I jokingly told her. “Come on. We need to hurry.” —— “How was it?” Kaia asked me after she made me taste the pasta she made for dinner. “It’s good,” I replied, smiling. “How about this?” I asked, giving her a slice of the steak I prepared. We decided to make pasta and steak for dinner to accompany the wine we got earlier—it’s to celebrate our friendship and freedom from our hellish life. “It’s delicious!” she said, nodding her head. “I bet Prince Blake will like it, too.” “Really?” “Yep.” I just nodded at her and smiled. I just hope that I won’t stumble upon him because I don’t really know how to get along with him since I really have this feeling that he doesn’t like me at all or worse, he hates me. “Does Prince Blake know I’m your friend?” I asked Kaia. I have been meaning to ask her about it. “Uh, no,” she said and grinned. “W-What?” My eyes widened at her. “But he knows I have a friend. Don’t worry, I’ll introduce you to him if ever he gets home before you leave,” she assured me and gave me a sweet smile. I bit my lower lip before nodding. I wanted you to tell her that it wasn’t the case, but I don’t want to stir any more issues. I’ll just have to pretend I’m good with that Prince in case I’ll meet him later. But I hope I won’t. After cooking the pasta and the steak, Kaia told me to just wait in the mini living room because she will be taking a quick bath. And since I don’t have anything to do, I decided to roam around the dorm. It has two rooms, but the other one is way bigger than the other. I can already tell which room is Kaia’s. I was about to move to see the other parts of their dorm when I heard the creaking sound of the door, so I quickly went to check on it since it’s way too early for the prince to come home. But I froze in my feet when his towering built along with his icy gaze welcomed me. As soon as I met his silvery eyes, I felt shivers all over my body, as if ice is slowly freezing my flesh. “What are you doing here?” he asked in his cold voice, looking at me from head to toe. “I…” I couldn’t help but gulp as I feel his intimidating aura seeping through my skin. “I …I’m here to visit Kaia. I…I am her friend.” He stared at me for a few seconds before passing through me without saying anything. But after a few steps, he spoke, “So you’re that friend she was babbling about.” “Y-Yes, your highness,” I replied without looking at him. My eyes were just glued to the ground. “Blake. Just call me Blake,” he emphasized using his cold voice. “In this camp, I am no prince not anyone higher than you.” “B-But…” I puffed some air before nodding my head since I realized it would be much easier to do what he asked me to. “Okay. B-Blake…” “Good,” he replied before I heard his footsteps going away from me. As soon as I heard the sound of his door opening, I turned around and that’s when I realized I was holding my breath. I took a deep breath and shook my head. He’s really something. It must be because of his royal blood that his aura is that intense. I didn’t know facing him that close would make me feel like freezing. Also, I felt something else more than intimidation. I don’t know what it was, but it was something foreign—something I have never felt before.
