He gave her an intense look and her heart slightly, very slightly faltered. When he said he would win her over, she felt like crossing her fingers for that, too. She almost hoped he could win her over, almost. Her heart felt like it was made of blocks of ice after the betrayal and somehow she hated it. She hated that she had become so distrustful and apprehensive, but sometimes she hated it, too. It was a lonely way to live.
