Chapter 38: When We First Fought
(Flashback - Four months after the first official date between Jade and Jared)
Jade's eyes were burning. She had been spending nights and days studying for the fall semester exams and today was the last one and then everyone got to go home for Christmas—Jade had nowhere to go, but she would be fine right here.
She looked at her notes and sighed. Her head pounded and she felt like she was losing it. Lately, whenever she slept, she dreamed about failing in every one of her papers. It was scary, the feeling of utter desperation in her dream was very frightening. She didn't want to fail her exams, of course, she wasn't going to, she was the most prepared, but the dreams still scared her, even after she woke up.
