Everything went silent. Not because the battle had ended. Not because the screams had stopped. But because I no longer heard them. My hand was wrapped tightly around Athena’s. The moment our fingers locked together, something inside me awakened. The invisible thread that had always connected us suddenly became tangible.
I felt it. A pull. It wasn't dragging me toward Athena. It was calling me home. I gasped. Beside me, Athena did exactly the same. Our eyes met. She felt it too. "Ash..." she whispered, her voice trembling. "I know.” The words barely left my lips before the pull intensified. My heart slammed against my ribs. Every heartbeat echoed inside my chest… inside hers. I could hear it. Not through my ears. Through our bond. Two hearts but one rhythm.
