Tessa looked back at me when Sarah asked if she could stay. I nodded slightly. "Tonight, you will sleep in a guest room. You will have guards posted outside of your door or window. If you try to leave, you will be killed on the spot. I will have someone bring you food and some basic toiletries. Tomorrow morning, when we have all had a chance to rest, we will meet again, and discuss what talent/skill/usefulness you can bring to my pack. Is that good enough?" Tessa said. Everything Sarah said was the truth, but I felt like she wasn't telling us everything. I watched as several guards escorted the girl to a guest room. Even though I knew she was telling the truth, every instinct in my body was telling me that she was not to be trusted. Jean agreed. She looked human, but her scent was off.
