The days after the sparring match, the air was still sub-zero in the house and it didn't seem to be letting up. Beast Boy wasn't seen unless it was a mission and it was getting noticed by the rest of the team that Robin was losing his patience with Beast Boy's f****d up attitude.
After dealing with Gizmo, the little tyke breaking into a video game store, they came home to the same stiff air.
Raven felt suffocated, Starfire worried, and Cyborg has torn.
Robin called a team meeting, but when Beast Boy didn't seem to hear or care he sent his girlfriend when his eye started to jump.
Beast Boy was listening to music when someone barged into his room. Looking at Starfire as she threw her nose in the air she snipped, "We have a meeting." Sighing Beast Boy rolled his eyes, "Tell Robin I'm sick. Or dead. Whatever suits your needs."
Starfire scoffed in disgust, "YOU ARE COMING NOW!" Her eyes flashed green and she slammed her fist into his door but Beast Boy didn't even flinch. Narrowing a dangerous, primal gaze at the alien, He boomed, "GET THE f**k OUT OF MY FACE OR I f*****g KILL YOU."
Gasping Starfire fell back against the wall in shock. Beast Boy scoffed and stalked to the common room vibrating. He walked in to see the team standing in front of the sofa. Huffing he sat on the couch as Starfire came in looking a little ashen. She whispered to Robin tearfully as he nodded in anger.
"The f**k is your problem Beast Boy!?" he exploded storming to stand in front of the changeling. Beast Boy rolled his eyes, "Meaning?" Robin scoffed, "I don't even recognize you! You're the asshole you were when you got f****d up on those chemicals! Well, I'm not standing for it, I am your leader. If you're on this team you will show respect to everyone in this house. How f*****g dare you threaten Starfire!"
Robin then fixed Beast Boy a severe look, "I let your slip go last time. That primal, spaz attack that caused that bullshit. But if I ever see it again, I won't hesitate to lock you up. Because then who knows what you'll be "
Beast Boy nodded slowly, "Okay...so I'm the bad guy right? For what? Doing what you told me?" Robin looked at Beast Boy shocked at the raw hurt in his voice. "I was a kid...and a part of me died. I lost my parents. They died...and they had given me so much to live for. It's a hard life...looking like this. It's a possibly lonely ass life, but they went to the ends of the earth to save me. And they died in the process. And so I did everything to push the lonely...the heartbreaking defeat by being the laughing stock of everyone."
Cyborg shook his head in denial, "Kid...you weren't the laughing stock." Beast Boy scoffed in anger, "I was though! I was the butt of every joke, the kid, the baby, the emotional punching bag of every one of you for whatever bullshit you had going on. You guys were easier to be around than Steve or Rita, or hell even Robotman. They treated me like a kid because I was the kid of the group. All of them in their mid to late thirties. But they weren't family, not like how you all became."
Looking into Robin's shocked eyes, Beast Boy shook his head, "I'm not a man. I'm a beast. I can admit that... I can admit at a time I admired you in the place of an idol." Turning to Cyborg Beast Boy murmured, "As a brother." Glancing at Starfire Beast Boy acknowledged, "As a good friend."
And finally, Raven Beast Boy got choked up and admitted, "Since...I don't think I ever really got to say it...I guess now is the time to just say it." Beast Boy groaned out pained, "I liked you. As more than a friend...and it never felt like I had a time to tell you that. I don't know why I liked you...you're beautiful you're smart, and above all, you liked to tell me when I'm wrong."
Beast Boy laughed a sad watery sound, "My dad told me to always find a woman who would. "She's telling the truth son because men usually are"." He quoted sadly.
Raven felt her eyes water as Beast Boy looked at her confused and broken, "But...you hated me. And I didn't know why. I just tried to change it, but you wouldn't give me the chance."
Beast Boy huffed as he confessed, "My greatest shame...was liking Terra...and knowing she knew how I felt about you. I couldn't, I didn't care for her, not like how I needed it to for us to work. Not how she wanted me to. But you? Seeing you happy...trying to make all that dark s**t you felt growing up just a little bit smaller, I'd thought I would eventually grow on you."
Beast Boy sighed in disgust at himself, "I'm sorry if my...overly hyper, prepubescent, virgin flirting put you off so much or made you feel uncomfortable. But...I just. I want you to know." Beast Boy looked down and then nodded, "I thought you were incredibly special. And I loved you for it." Raven gasped as the other's jaw dropped.
Beast Boy smiled sadly at his shell shocked team as he continued on, "But I know...I know now me and you wouldn't be right for each other. Robin might be right, I might be getting unstable again. So I'm going to go, because despite what any of you might think. I had never wanted to hurt any of you. I love you guys."
And then he was gone.
