Eleven Tasa finished up the dishes as Whistle went back into her bedroom to make a call to Kingdom. The instant he was out of sight, she abandoned them and leaned over the counter toward Jazz. In a hushed voice, she gritted out, “I’m so sorry Jazz. He wanted to take me home yesterday. After I was done, no one was left in the bar, and he insisted. I tried dissuading him.” Tasa cringed. She was rambling on, but in no way did she want to mess up what she had going with Jazz. Besides being her roommate and co-worker, besides the fact that Jazz had helped her out of the goodness of her heart, Tasa considered her a friend.
