Chapter 93 The Master Who Went down the Mountain

2732 Words
In the evening after they finished practicing swordsmanship, Li Fuyao talked with his master Xie Lu for a long time. He had not many questions about swordsmanship, but later they talked a lot about other things. Li Fuyao had known that his master would have so much to say, yet when she talked and couldn't stop herself, he had no other intentions except listening quietly. However, Xie Lu rubbed his head all the time, which made him speechless. Next morning, Li Fuyao went to the road for the climbers to practice swordsmanship and cope with the white huge birds. When he was exhausted, he went back to the mountainside and saw the two Sword Immortals, Lu Changyan and the woman in red, Xie Chen. Xie Chen stayed on the solitary peak as always and didn't watch the scenery on this side or talk with Li Fuyao, while Lu Changyan liked this teenage boy who came to ask for being defeated from time to time. When he saw the boy later, he didn't immediately unsheathe his sword first but would talk with him every time. The Sword Immortal Lu Changyan dressed in a white robe sat with his legs crossed and looked at Li Fuyao in front of him, paying attention to the sword Green Strand on his waist. He sighed with emotion. "It's Bai Zhihan's sword. You went to the bottom of the cliff and got a sword. You didn't get Liu Xiang's sword Three Taels but brought Bai Zhihan's sword Green Strand. In fact, by comparison, both the swords are arrogant, yet Bai Zhihan is more arrogant. Even if it would take him one hundred years before he entered the Ocean Stage, he would be more powerful than Liu Xiang. He was a real genius on swordsmanship in the human world. However, he was born at the wrong time and didn't witness the great war. It would be not difficult for him to enter the Ocean Stage and reach the peak of swordsmanship." Li Fuyao laughed. "If I had known earlier that Master Bai was so talented, I shouldn't have brought this sword, in case that his sword is ruined by me." Lu Changyan shook his head and laughed. "Destiny can't be predicted. Anyway, since it is in your hands, it is your luck, and you just need to treat this sword well. Bai Zhihan was silent those years and didn't even talk more with the Sword Immortals. Nobody knew what he was thinking about. You brought his sword, and you don't know what was on his mind, either." Li Fuyao smiled bitterly in silence. Lu Changyan didn't continue to bother about this matter and then talked about something on swordsmanship that he comprehended. After he stabbed Li Fuyao when they first met, he was surprised to see the boy for the second time. After the people outside the mountain climbed it successfully, they couldn't come to this road for the climbers, yet Li Fuyao came for the second time, so it astonished Lu Changyan. Later, he knew that this teenage boy couldn't reach the mountaintop and then practiced swordsmanship at the foot of the mountain, and then he felt more confused. However, after Li Fuyao came to the road for the climbers on the mountain several times, Lu Changyan wasn't curious anymore. He waved his sword a few times, and Li Fuyao couldn't resist for long yet didn't feel frustrated. If he couldn't make it today, he would come again tomorrow at the worst, and he didn't plan to shrink back, which relieved Lu Changyan. If he were not just a wisp of soul or if he had secrets on his mind, he was willing to pass them down. If it was the time when he was alive, he didn't need to do that, but now there were so few swordsmen, and it was not improper to do that. Although he didn't have secrets, he had some feelings after he learnt swordsmanship and could pass them down. At last, Lu Changyan turned to Xie Chen in the distance and suddenly asked in a low voice, "Little guy, do you think that all people from the Xie family are strange?" Li Fuyao shook his head as he didn't dare to comment on Master Xie and her ancestors. Lu Changyan felt bored and didn't want to say more. He stood up and then said that he would unsheathe his sword. Li Fuyao drew the long sword Green Strand on his waist and looked indifferent. Anyway, he couldn't defeat Lu Changyan no matter how he resisted, so it was fine to face him calmly. The female Sword Immortal in red, Xie Chen, who was on the peak in the distance, saw that Li Fuyao came to ask for being defeated once more. She just glanced at them and smiled faintly. Then she closed her eyes and rested her mind again. The members of the Xie family were swordsmen innately and pursued swordsmanship for thousands of years, and there were five Sword Immortals in the history of the family, which was an old and well-known family of swordsmanship indeed. So the Xie family didn't pay much attention to anything other than swordsmanship. Xie Chen was like this, but Xie Lu was an exception. At the foot of Sword Mountain, after Li Fuyao went down the mountain, the old Confucian scholar came to the shabby temple again. This time, he didn't talk with Xian Chunan but asked Liu Yibai for his rice wine, drinking with this unrestrained swordsman. The old Confucian scholar loved rice wine, and Liu Yibai liked drinking, too, so the two had a common topic of conversation. The old Confucian scholar with a book box on his back said with a smile, "I had some books about swordsmanship, and you must be interested in them in the past few years. You practice swordsmanship following Liu Xiang's style but started to learn at an older age, and your talent is inferior to his, so you can't reach his stage. However, the scholars in the world won't necessarily become sages, and you practice swordsmanship yet won't necessarily become the Sword Immortal Liu Xiang. However, it appears that you don't want to become him. He was not like you. You aren't afraid of death." Liu Yibai took a gulp of wine and then responded helplessly, "Who is not afraid of death? However, everybody is rushing forward, and it's too much if I don't do the same. If nobody sees that I can't defeat the enemy, I would run away as soon as possible. Life is much more important than dignity." The old Confucian scholar chuckled. "You have seen through everything." Liu Yibai touched the sword on his waist and giggled. "Sir, you came to Sword Mountain this time, and you must not just want to return a favor. If you hide something from me, it would ruin our friendship." The old Confucian scholar spat saliva and stomped, cursing, "Do you think that I am so low? I have walked tens of thousands of miles and thought that I would have a good reputation. But you just criticize me like this?" Liu Yibai smiled bitterly and raised his wine bowl, begging for mercy. "Fine, fine, I was wrong. Sir, you are magnanimous. Please forget it." The old Confucian scholar responded furiously, "I will vent my anger only after drinking more wine." Liu Yibai kept silent with a bitter smile. The old Confucian scholar didn't beat around the bush anymore and stated calmly, "You told that bloke to bring the sword Green Strand from the bottom of the cliff. Although it is not as good as the sword Three Taels, it is more suitable for him. Then as the next step, you should make him enter the Sword Qi Stage as soon as possible. Liang Yi would come soon, and the mountains are not peaceful. Later your isolated mountain would be more unstable. The old man on the mountain can't cope with it by himself." Liu Yibai's expression didn't change. After a long while, he sighed. "We are strong in will but weak in power." The old Confucian scholar who was drinking looked confused. He suddenly asked, "Liu Yibai, if you can make another choice, will you run away?" Liu Yibai frowned and looked at him, staying silent for a long time. Then he replied with a smile, "Yes, I will." The old Confucian scholar put down the wine bowl. "I don't like the guys who always lie, such as you. If there is a chance, I'll beat you up." Liu Yibai expressed in a low voice, "Sir, you read so many books, yet you can't resist my strike several times." The old Confucian scholar was speechless and got up after a while, returning to the mountain. On the mountain path, a teenage boy was waiting for him. The old Confucian scholar smiled at the little guy on the mountain and asked, "What? The old guy Xu Ji taught you another lesson?" Wu Shanhe with the sword Landscape on his waist showed a sad face and scratched his hair, asking in a rage, "Sir, why doesn't the old master allow me to go down the mountain?" The old Confucian scholar took a few steps and walked to the teenage boy, asking with a smile, "Do you want to go down the mountain so much?" Wu Shanhe nodded. "The scenery outside the mountain is beautiful and I want to leave here to have a look since long ago. It's fine to go to Yanling or Liangxi. Anybody would be fed up if he faces this mountain all the time. Sir, if you stay here for more than ten years, you won't be happy." The old Confucian scholar shook his head and denied it. "If I can stay for more days in such an interesting place, I would be very happy." Wu Shanhe gritted his teeth. The old Confucian scholar said while walking up along the mountain path, "It's almost the same no matter where you are staying, but it's great that you want to watch the scenery outside the mountain. After you walk ten thousand miles, perhaps you would promote your cultivation on swordsmanship to several levels higher. Your master Chen Sheng reaches this stage only after he walks around outside the mountain randomly. And Chao Qingqiu seldom comes to this mountain. Doesn't he live a good life? However, somebody is needed to guard this mountain." Wu Shanhe walked up to the mountaintop with the old Confucian scholar and asked with a frown, "Isn't great that the old master is on the mountaintop?" The old Confucian scholar suddenly turned his head and asked seriously, "What if your old master dies?" Wu Shanhe paused for a while and then asked resentfully, "He is extraordinarily powerful. All people said that he is the most capable swordsman in the human world except Sword Immortal Chao. How would he die so easily?" The old Confucian scholar laughed and didn't make comments. He just asked, "Who on earth should guard the mountain if the old master dies? Is it you, Wu Shanhe?" Wu Shanhe hesitated for a while yet nodded in the end. The old master was the most capable swordsman except Chao Qingqiu, which sounded nice. If he really met the temple owner, what would happen? Who knew if he would try to kill the temple owner with the sword at one blow? Before they walked to the mountaintop, the old Confucian scholar looked at Wu Shanhe and said in all earnestness, "For something, you should wait for the opportunity, which may come soon, or perhaps you can't get it after waiting for a lifetime, so don't be anxious. If there is a chance, when I go down the mountain, I will take you away to travel around. Then don't say that you will miss everything on the mountain." Wu Shanhe laughed loudly. "It's a deal, sir." The old Confucian scholar nodded and even seriously had a fist bump with the boy. Wu Shanhe finally left the mountain path and planned to find a good place to practice swordsmanship. He was unwilling to see the old master, in case that he was thrown to the sword grave again. He didn't feel comfortable at all in there. The old Confucian scholar who came to the Sword Lawn didn't see the old master or know where he was. Meanwhile, on the road for the climbers, the tall and big old man standing with his hands behind his back looked at a young guy who was sitting calmly with his eyes closed and his legs crossed in the distance all the time. He laughed and felt it interesting. Li Fuyao resisted Lu Changyan's attack and then went down the mountain alone. The female Sword Immortal didn't say anything from beginning to end, and Li Fuyao didn't feel disappointed. There were too many great masters staying secluded in the world. He couldn't say that each one should be related to him. He didn't get their instructions, which meant that he didn't have the lucky chance, or the female Sword Immortal didn't think highly of him. In fact, it was no big deal. When he went down the mountain, as a habit, Li Fuyao took out the demon core given by Qing Huai and looked at it. This stuff was greatly helpful to the cultivators, yet it was not a good gift. However, Li Fuyao liked it, so he would take it out to have a look when he was free. While walking, he laughed. If Xie Lu saw that, she would probably say something. After he went down the mountain, Li Fuyao still practiced swordsmanship alone in the open space in front of the shabby temple, while this time, he didn't see any of the three masters. In the shabby temple, Liu Yibai holding a wine pot and Xie Lu holding the famous sword Light Snow as well as Xian Chunan with nothing in hands stood in front of their statues respectively and looked calm. Xian Chunan said impassively, "Sword Mountain can't be humiliated." Xie Lu kept silent with something on her mind. Liu Yibai laughed. "My sword Qi is the most powerful. I will have a try with my sword, but I am not sure if it would work." Xian Chunan stated with a smile, "Lately, Chen Sheng climbed up that mountain. Although he couldn't see the temple owner, the power of his sword was similar to yours, and he couldn't kill anybody. Your sword is not good enough. This time, let me do it." Liu Yibai pursed his lips and shouted, "Xian, how would you kill somebody? Your Hidden Fish is short and probably can't get close to the temple owner. Anyway my Wild Grass is longer and there will be a greater chance." Xian Chunan waved his hand and turned his head, looking at the statue behind him with a smile. "I always leave the chances to you at ordinary times. However, don't fight with me today. Can you just think that I want to go down the mountain to watch the scenery?" Liu Yibai couldn't speak a word this time and just looked at Xie Lu, calling helplessly, "Xie Lu." Xie Lu expressed in a low voice, "Under the situation, it's not important to fight." Liu Yibai finally shut up. Xian Chunan patted his robe and tided up his hair and hat, saying peacefully, "I won't leave my Hidden Fish here." Liu Yibai looked serious. Xie Lu looked indifferent all the time. Before Xian Chunan walked out of the shabby temple, he asked Liu Yibai for a pot of wine, but after he drank only half a bowl with Liu Yibai, he waved his hand and stopped drinking. After leaving the temple, he smiled at Li Fuyao and then left the mountain directly. The gentle man went down the mountain. In the temple, Xie Lu stayed silent for a long time. Later, she picked up the half bowl of wine that Xian Chunan hadn't finished and then drank it in one gulp. Liu Yibai was dispirited. Then in this shabby temple, Xian Chunan's statue seemed to have spider-webs, with many cracks in different sizes. Xian Chunan had come to the front of Green Lake and then walked on the water surface impassively.
