Chapter 94 Green Lake at the Foot of Sword Mountain

1931 Words
The senior fellow apprentice in the shabby temple at the foot of the mountain left there and wanted to show his sword before the temple owner came to Sword Mountain. The two masters in the temple knew that, but Li Fuyao didn't know. He merely knew that Master Xian left the mountain yet had no idea where he went or how long he would be away. Even when this master went down the mountain, he didn't say anything. Li Fuyao didn't know too many things and just practiced swordsmanship hard in the open space in front of the shabby temple. In the past, Liu Yibai once told Li Fuyao when they were drinking together that if he practiced swordsmanship, he didn't need to think about anything else, and as long as he practiced the movements from a book down pat, he would be like a swordsman when he walked in the world. In fact, the swordsmen had the first stage, which could support the vital energy movement. With an uncommon book about swordsmanship added, he could have a position in society, and maybe he could be called "unique hero". The society was small, but in Liu Yibai's opinion, there was more humanity than the mountains where the cultivators lived. After he went down the mountain in the future, he could have a walk around the human world, and it wouldn't do harm to his cultivation. Then Li Fuyao didn't refuse. He just smiled and asked Master Liu if he said that because he couldn't forget a girl in society. Liu Yibai beat Li Fuyao's head mercilessly then and paused for a moment before saying with a sigh, "You are right." However, after that, Liu Yibai didn't continue to tell Li Fuyao more. After they ended the conversation, Liu Yibai competed on swordsmanship with Li Fuyao unprecedentedly. Liu Yibai whose sword Qi was powerful didn't suppress the opponent with his stage, but his sword Qi made Li Fuyao suffer a lot. After they finished competing, Li Fuyao was injured much more severely than when he competed with Xie Lu. At that time, Xie Lu was standing in the distance. After seeing the scene, she stated casually, "Let's see whose sword Qi will be more powerful in one hundred years." However, she just said that. When Li Fuyao heard the words "one hundred years", he had a headache. In his opinion, one hundred years was a too long period. After Xian Chunan went down the mountain today, Xie Lu walked out of the temple and then still looked calm. Nobody could see through her, while Liu Yibai looked unnatural. They sat on the big bluestone side by side and kept silent. Li Fuyao who was practicing swordsmanship suddenly stopped halfway. He rubbed his face and then came to the two masters, asking if they wanted to listen to a story. Liu Yibai finally remembered that this bloke used to be a storyteller. He was in a better mood and asked Li Fuyao to tell a story. Li Fuyao laughed and then chose a story about a man who went out alone to resist the enemy in order to save all the old and young people in the village. The story was not hard to understand. After Li Fuyao finished it, Liu Yibai looked more terrible. He kept commenting on the man in the story and stated furiously in the end, "Who has seen such a stupid man?" Xie Lu responded in a low voice, "You just didn't have a chance. A stupid man has his own blessing, but I don't think any of you have." Liu Yibai expressed with an affected expression, "Xie Lu, your words are not lucky." Xie Lu replied peacefully, "If everything will go well after I say something lucky, I will speak to you every day, okay?" Liu Yibai frowned. "If you are willing to do that, I'd be happy to hear even if it is useless." Xie Lu looked cold in silence and merely turned to Li Fuyao, telling him to continue to practice swordsmanship, which puzzled the confused boy more. At last, he had to continue to practice and didn't know anything. After Xian Chunan went down the mountain and came to Green Lake, he walked on the water surface yet stopped halfway. Then he suddenly turned his head and looked at the tall and big old man standing by the bank. Xian Chunan cupped his hands and stated loudly, "It's my fortune that you escorted me down the mountain today, Master. I will have nothing to regret even if I die." The old man standing with his hands behind his back remained calm and just asked coldly, "Who allowed you to go down the mountain?" Xian Chunan smiled and patted the short sword Hidden Fish on his waist. "This sword on my waist." The old master Xu Ji looked peaceful and said in all earnestness, "I will handle the affairs on the mountains. You guys should just stay there. You made me worry in the past, and you are still the same. Now you even cross the line and want to leave the mountain without permission unexpectedly. Don't you know that you will pay a high price for it?" Xian Chunan stood in the middle of the lake and responded with a smile, "Master, what you said doesn't make sense at all. Since I am a swordsman on the mountain, I should do my best to protect the mountain. I have been here for one hundred years but accomplish nothing while I am busy all the time, so I feel guilty. Now under the situation, if I show my sword on that mountain, I will make my wish come true. Even if I disappear in the world as a result, it will be a happy thing. Why don't you allow me to?" Xu Ji looked at this middle-aged man he had brought to the mountain in person that year and remembered clearly that when he led Xian Chunan up the mountain, it was raining hard. He grabbed the teenage boy's hand and didn't have an umbrella. He didn't let the boy shelter from the rain. So when they were on the path to Menchen Mountain, Xian Chunan was wet all over his body, yet he kept silent all the time. After he reached Menchen Mountain in the heavy rain, he just stayed in the shabby temple for half a day and then climbed up Sword Mountain. After reaching the top of Sword Mountain, he chose a sword, Hidden Fish from the Sword Washing Pool. Since then, he concentrated on practicing swordsmanship on the mountain, and he promoted his cultivation steadily even though he didn't make progress rapidly. Later, Chen Sheng, Liu Yibai and Xie Lu became his disciples one after another, and they all had extraordinary talent and even almost all of them were more gifted than Xian Chunan, but their mind of swordsmanship was not as peaceful as Xian Chunan's. Chen Sheng was lively and stayed on Sword Mountain only for a short period. Then he went down the mountain alone. Liu Yibai was from society and was the laziest. After he came up the mountain, he was unwilling to travel around, so he stayed here patiently. Xie Lu was determined to pursue the achievements in swordsmanship, so she didn't have the plan to go down the mountain. Those years, the old master even considered leaving Sword Mountain to Xian Chunan. However, later something happened and it ruined all his plans. Till today, when he saw his first disciple who was gentle, Xu Ji sighed with emotion. If that thing didn't happen, he would rest assured no matter how bad the situation was on the mountain. Xian Chunan stood on the lake surface and asked with a smile, "Master, did you settle all the affairs on the mountain?" Xu Ji shook his head. Xian Chunan shook his head with a smile and just stared at Xu Ji in silence. Xu Ji walked into the lake, with the water behind him surging and rippling. He stated while walking forward, "Xian Chunan, if you want to leave the mountain today, you need to resist my strike first." Xian Chunan didn't say anything and merely pressed the handle of Hidden Fish. Xu Ji stopped and rolled his sleeve. The lake water rose, and he waved his hand randomly. Then a water sword appeared which was of the same size as a common long sword. The sword Qi rolled forward and aimed at Xian Chunan. Xian Chunan's hair on the temples was stirred by the sword Qi and flying with the wind. He pressed Hidden Fish and smiled quietly all the time. The water sword approached him with the sound of the wind but was suddenly broken. It turned into lake water and splashed on Xian Chunan's face. Xu Ji expressed with annoyance, "I am old." Xian Chunan looked serious and suddenly stated with no emotion, "After I leave this time, no matter if I will win, I won't come back to Sword Mountain. My sword Hidden Fish will be hidden on mountains or in rivers. If Fuyao finds it someday when he travels around the human world, please tell him to return it to the Sword Washing Pool and leave it to the later generations." Xu Ji asked in a low voice, "Do you think so highly of this young disciple of your junior fellow apprentice?" Xian Chunan laughed loudly. "We have only one disciple of the later generation, and I have to pin my hopes on him." Xu Ji didn't say more and turned around directly. Xian Chunan jumped after walking a few steps. Then he fell on a boat in the distance. The boatman was not anybody else but the simple man Liu Yuanlu. He was having a nap in the boat yet felt the boat sink all of a sudden. Then he opened his eyes in a daze and saw Xian Chunan with a sword on his waist standing on the bow. Liu Yuanlu's eyes fell on Xian Chunan's waist and suddenly widened. He asked, "You are a Sword Immortal on the mountain?" Xian Chunan turned to him and smiled. "Not an immortal." Liu Yuan was excited and wiped his face. Then he asked cautiously, "Where are you going?" "Go to the ferry-place," Xian Chunan replied calmly. Liu Yuanlu responded, "Oh." Then he propelled the boat with a smile. After he rowed for a distance, he talked about the old Confucian scholar with a book box on his back. He said that the old scholar was unrestrained and must have gone to Sword Mountain. He asked if that scholar was still on the mountain, but Xian Chunan didn't reply to him. Liu Yuanlu didn't feel embarrassed and said something more. Later, he talked about Li Fuyao who climbed up the mountain. He asked boldly at last, "Is that powerful young hero still practicing swordsmanship on the mountain? He is so capable. When he killed the huge tortoise in this lake, I knew that he could make it. Is he awesome on the mountain now?" Xian Chunan didn't want to answer, yet after hearing Liu Yuanlu's words this time, he suddenly responded with a smile, "He is awesome. It's true." Hearing such a nice response, Liu Yuanlu grinned. He knew that teenage boy who was young yet capable would be awesome. However, after he pondered for a while, if he would say that the boy was not perfect, the only problem was that he was stingy.
