So many things happen at once, it feels like times completely slows down. Ken starts to raise the pistol, Nate is standing there beautiful and strong; Kadence yells, “Mom what are you doing do not let him do it.”

“Hush Kadence your mom has made her choice, if she is too weak to pull the trigger I will.” Cocky bastard, I swear I cannot stand him this pushes Lizzy to the limit.

“You are right Ken; I have made my choice.” He smiles harder and finish aiming at Nate preparing to pull the trigger. “But you are wrong about one thing,” I pull out my blade enjoying the sound it makes as I quickly open it. I slice across the right wrist; the wrist that he is holding the gun in, severing the tendons, and then I stab him twice right under his ribs.

Ken falls to his knees gurgling and gasping for air, holding his side with his good hand.

Everyone is silently confused. I kneel down, “You have maybe thirty minutes before your lungs collapse and you drown in your own blood. I want you to suffer, and I heard this is very painful.” He looks like a blowfish; tears are running down his face.

“I do not like guns because I like to see the panic in their eyes, I like to see the life leave their bodies. Guns are too easy.”

“You have to appreciate the art.” I look over to Kadence kneeling across from me, should I be proud or worried?

Nate and De’ clear their throat at the same time, “I hate to disrupt the psycho convention, but we need to find Kody.” De’ says barely standing.

“Do not worry about him, he went to look for step mommy dearest.” Ken makes a loud gasping noise, and grabs Kadence.

She snatches away, “Do not worry daddy, we will be sure to take good care of her.”

Ken whispers,” You….will…..ne-v-er….find…her.” He starts coughing, and bloody bubbles are coming from his mouth as he gives her a satisfied smirk.

Darkness fills my babies face, and for the first time I think I truly see her. “For years we have set back and patiently waited for you to slip. No matter where you have sent her, we will find her. We will search every end of the earth until she is found. Then I will personally take my time and dissect her anatomy; piece. By. Piece.”

Ken has stopped breathing, I thought maybe my damage has taken its toll. No, he was holding his breath staring at Kadence in fear. Kadence walked away and came back with a plastic bag, reached in Ken’s shirt and placed it over is wounds. He takes a full deep breath.

I look at her with heat in my eyes.

“Sorry mother, I want him alive for what is to come. Daddy can you get him fixed up and held somewhere?”

Nate freeze at the term of endearment.

“Snap out of dipshit she is talking to you.” I roll my eyes,  yea we are still pissed at him and De'.

“Yea baby girl. Anything for you.“

" Kadence, call your brother."

The next hour or so a lot happens. Kadence locates Kody, Nate calls his men back to collect Kendrick and take De' to their doctor.

Now we are sitting on the front porch when Kody gets dropped off by an uber.

He walks up, “What the f**k mom. What happened.” Concerned marred on his face.

“She is okay, I am going to get her checked up on. She was waiting on you,” Nate chimes in.

I stand,

“I do not need you to take me to get checked out.” He is ready to protest, but I raise my hand. “I do need one favor, I need you to take the twins for a while why I get some things in order.” The twins start to argue and question me.

“Look I do not have to explain myself; I have sacrificed everything for everyone, and I am only asking this one thing of you all.” Nate gazes into my eyes, I cannot offer him any emotions at this point. I am too tired and spent; he must sense it because he nods with understanding.

I hug my babies and we say our goodbyes, moments later an uber pulls up.

I toss Nate my phone, I do not need anyone to tract me, and start to limp towards the car.

“I will contact you when I am settled. Do not try to find me. Ka, Kody please do not do anything stupid until I get back. “

Kody smirks, “We cannot make any promises.”

It feels like it takes me forever to get to the car, but right when I get ready to open the door the hairs on my neck stand up and I feel him before I him hear him. He grabs me by the waist, spins me around and his lips are on mine in an instant. Electricity shoots down my spine, his hand goes into my hair to pull my head back to open me up to him. I moan because his mouth is pure ecstasy. When he finally stops kissing me he licks the seem of my mouth,

“I just wanted to remind you that you are mine, and that I will give you space. Six months, after that I will f*****g hunt. You. Down.”

“Nathaniel” I barely say under a whisper.

“I will take care of our children and you take care of yourself. Just know that I love you.” He says caressing my cheek. Then he helped me in the car.

I watched him as the car pulled away, my chest tightened, I touched my stomach feeling the butterflies; praying that the universe can give me some slack just this one time.

I love you too. And hopefully I can take care of myself and our baby.
